Nobody actually wants to walk up to a stranger at an event. So don't.

Pamela Durkin's move: ask someone you already know to introduce you to the person you want to meet. The recommendation does the trust-building before you say a word.

Try it at the next one.

Walking into an event with "meet people" as the plan is how you end up talking to the same three people all night.
Pamela Durkin sets one specific goal before she goes. One.

That's the difference between prep and just showing up early.
What's your goal for the next one?

✨ Signature Style Spotlight

Today's featured entry comes from Lesley Myrick of Lesley Myrick Interior Design.

I smiled the first time I saw this one because it has so much personality. Bold colors and patterns, and even a chartreuse ceiling, but somehow it all works together.
Then I smiled even more when I read the following note Lesley included with her entry.

“This is not a room designed to appeal to everyone. It is designed to feel exactly right for one specific kind of person - someone who knows who they are, trusts their designer, and wants to come home to a space that reflects both.”

Isn’t that what interior design is all about?

Every entry in the Signature Style Showcase brings a different perspective, and it's been so much fun seeing everyone's creativity come to life.

Question: Would you be brave enough to paint your ceiling chartreuse, or is there another bold design choice you'd make instead? by @designfilesapp

✨ Signature Style Spotlight

Today's featured entry comes from Donyea Tollie of Rejuvenation Home Studio.

Tell me this doesn’t feel like the kind of space where you'd pour a glass of wine, pick up a good book, and forget about everything else for a while. I love everything about this design. Especially those statement table lamps and carved wood panels.😍

Today's featured entry comes from Maxi Silver of Maxi J Design.

This room feels like proof that you don't need dozens of statement pieces to create something memorable. A beautiful palette, layered textures, and a few standout furnishings do all the heavy lifting.

✨ Signature Style Spotlight

Today's featured entry comes from Nathalie Ngo of Dana Cavanaugh Interior Design.

Some rooms don't need to shout to get your attention. This was one of those for me. Everything feels balanced, from the earthy colors to the mix of materials, and the whole space has a calm, welcoming feel.

You know the project was beautiful.

You know the client was happy.

But do you know the actual profit margin?

Most design firms don’t have a revenue problem—they have a visibility problem.

In today’s blog, we’re sharing how DesignFiles helps interior designers connect project management, purchase orders, invoicing, and QuickBooks so profitability isn’t something you discover months later.

From the initial idea to the end result, featuring the talented Amy Owens from @hiddengemdesigngroup💙

Back to black is the way forward!

Amy Owens has created a modern open plan kitchen-living-dining space that’s elevated with dramatic black accents.

Carefully curated black appliances, handles, lighting and furniture really bring it to life.

We love the way Amy has combined different woods for a natural look with statement painted pieces, and then brought in textiles in muted shades for softness.

Let’s take a moment to appreciate Amy’s comprehensive moodboards!
