When I walked into this apartment it was beige walls, beige carpet … no personality. The client wanted something soothing that didn’t require repainting. We embraced the neutrals but elevated with a floral rug in a breezy color palette to match. We call this design style … wait for it… the lake effect 🌊.

When I recommend a product, I certainly do my due diligence in researching it. Took a tour of @naturepedic factory and showroom, which is just 25 minutes away from Shaker Heights. Talk about shopping local.

This organic mattress company started out with crib mattresses and now includes organic bedding and furniture. The founder, Barry A. Cik, board-certified environmental engineer, witnessed the burning of the Cuyahoga River when he was a student at CSU—no wonder he is against questionable chemicals and hazardous flame retardants.

In fact, you’ll never find glues or adhesives in their products. The stainless steel mattress spring pockets are connected by tiny clips. Any waterproofing is done by treating cotton with non-GMO sugarcane that’s heated up to make a seal. (Isn’t that sweet 😉?)

Hope you enjoy a sneak peak at how these mattresses are made. Fun fact: 85% of the Naturepedic factory workforce is Amish, so you know you’re getting impeccable craftsmanship.

Bedroom design should be a mix of serene elements and a touch of whimsy. One way to achieve this is by mixing vintage pieces with bright colors.

DesignFix offers styling services that work with your favorite color palette.

The primary bedroom of this Shaker Heights home was uninspired, to say the least. To embrace the historic charm that is au courant and not dated, DesignFix leaned into Contemporary Cottagecore by incorporating florals with a fresh palette.

The light blue walls were enhanced with @nabelanoorhome wallpaper and framed with @backdrop trim in lilac. To match the amethyst @cb2 bed upholstery, @chasingpaper Kent Street was the perfect pairing for a cornice refresh.

An original print by Martin F.W.J. Szutter, a Cleveland artist who showed at the @clevelandmuseumofart in the 1970s was a gem found @mixvintagecle in Cleveland Heights.

Adding @brooklinen bedding was the perfect way to tie it all together.

Successful design is when preparation meets opportunity.

DesignFix is all about helping you fill in those gaps in home decor projects. Each room is a canvas waiting to be filled and we are here to help.

This home office was wallpapered in bold peony @chasingpaper wallpaper, and when I saw the marbled paper lamp shade by @pookylightsus, it was the perfect opportunity to lean into pattern play.

The best design decision I ever made—transforming a completely uninspired all-white home office into a bouquet of peonies. This is now the cheeriest room in the house.

DM me if you want your workspace to be your happy place.

As much as I love Labor Day weekend, I dread the week that follows. Why does Friday feel like a Wednesday?

This post is dedicated to everyone who felt out of wack this week and needs rest. Go ahead, work in bed today.

One of my favorite things is dressing my bed in linen sheets, like these from @luluandgeorgia. They remind me of vintage blockprinted artwork.

Color palette inspiration for fall, y’all.

Spotted some leaves this morning and this got me thinking about all the autumnal color combos—deep burgundy and saffron and chestnut, oh my!

Here are some of my favorite combinations that range from @benjaminmoore Sequoia paint used on paneling in a basement makeover to a lovely plum duvet cover from @brooklinen, topped with a walnut-hued wool throw from @bollandbranch

Why live with white walls when you can live in color? This vintage Shaker Heights bathroom got a facelift with only two things: new @livdendesigns Soleil wallpaper and a bit of spray paint on the lights.

DesignFix is all about preserving what you have—just making it better! DM me for a consultation.
