I had the immense honour of attending Seeing Red: Runway of Rezilience @weareseeingred ; a powerful celebration of Indigenous culture, fashion, art and storytelling.

To be invited by @itsjewelstarr was a blessing because I got an excuse to pick up my camera and start shooting again. I'm so grateful she encouraged me.

It was a privilege to witness the creativity and beauty represented through the evening. This edition's theme Skywalkers, celebrates the Mohawk and Haudenosaunee ironworkers who built New York and Toronto's skylines. This was showcased and honoured through Indigenous fashion by talented designers, art, marketplace and food.

Can I also say, every last outfit was immaculate?! To be there was truly surreal and the fact that I got to capture a few moments through my lens was humbling to say the least.

Thank you so much again to @weareseeingred, @bubblegumcanada and @itsjewelstarr for having me. I will never forget this moment 🩷

If you didn't make it to Paint & Plantain for the Soul, here's what you missed: Great vibes, delicious food, a lit playlist and a warm community painting and sharing belly laughs!

Thank you so much to @the.hive.toronto & @honeysoulfood for having me and for supporting me. I will never forget this and will forever cherish this collaboration.

To my community who showed up to support, helped me set up, take down and take content, I love and appreciate y'all so much🥺🩷. Your encouragement gave me the strength to keep going.

And to the PATRONS! Yall came out in your numbers and had a blast! It was fun getting to know you, celebrating birthdays, chatting with you and overall a pleasure to teach you. I wish I could rewind and do Saturday all over again.

This was my comeback season and boy y'all did not disappoint. To think this little lady from Barbados got to share a piece of home with you feels so surreal. This is only the beginning - I can't wait to see y'all at the next one and make sure y'all get some cornbread!

With Love,

Jobella xxx🩷

The artist and her art!

When I'm not hosting Paint workshops or elevating client work, this what I'm doing!

This is my biggest piece yet! At 24"x36" this one is about community and connection. Two women hooting and hollering in front of a chattel house surrounded by banana/fig trees and breeze coming from the sea🥰

It's still early but I'm definitely starting to fall in love with it. This has a different feel - what do you guys think?

Paint & Plantain isn't just about supporting and collaborating with Caribbean/Black Owned Businesses - it's also about being involved in the process so you guys get the best experience possible!

Today you get to come with me behind the scenes at The Hive AND Honey Soul Food to try some of the food we'll be serving up at Paint & Plantain for The Soul.

This is a raw, honest review so I not gonna lie to y'all - the Caribbean inspired Soul food was definitely a hit!

It was worth the trip to both locations so tell ya friends to pull up.
