EVENT CANCELLATION: Due to inclement weather, the Mountain Glory Festival in Marion has been canceled for Saturday.

The City of Marion announced the cancellation earlier today. The decision was made out of an abundance of caution, with the safety of residents, visitors, vendors, and volunteers as the top priority.

We know how much this beloved fall tradition means to the McDowell community and we appreciate everyone who works to make it special each year. by @destinationmcdowell

We’re honored to be invited to the official Ribbon Cutting and Celebration of Blue Ridge Parkway Reconstruction, Repairs and Recovery. We’re happy to welcome you back to over 11 miles of newly reopened Blue Ridge Parkway along McDowell County’s northern border. Big thanks to @nationalparkservice, @u.s.forestservice, @discovermitchell_nc, @blowingrocknc, @mitchellcountyncchamber, @usinterior, @usdot, the countless wilderness nonprofits and volunteers, as well as all our partners for making this happen.

This is a great week to see early fall color spreading along the highest elevations (above 4,500 - 5,000 feet) of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We suggest taking a weekend color tour along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Changes in elevation, sunlight, and tree species are creating a different autumn landscape around every bend.
