Yet another beautiful snow day in our little part of the Blue Ridge Mountains! Whether you’re braving the crisp winter air for a hike with @namaste_in_nature, or cozying up to a bonfire like @indigonatureretreat and @littlemountainaframe, or setting up another round of Settlers of Catan with @tabletopinnmarion while snow falls outside your window, McDowell County is a sight worth seeing this season!

@blueridgeviewrental is a 3 BR/3 BA townhome offering a desk station in every room, full kitchen, deck, screened porch, charcoal grill, access to community amenities, & breathtaking mountain views.

Located within the private & pristine Linville Falls Mountain Club & next door to North Cove Disc Golf Course, BRV is 20 minutes from the charming town of Marion, “where Main Street meets the mountains”.

Drive less than 10 minutes to reach Linville Caverns where you can spend your day exploring & hearing the lore surrounding them. Also minutes away (5 to be exact) is the famous Blue Ridge Parkway. Take this gorgeous drive with a view all the way to another charming town, Blowing Rock, where restaurants, shops, & local musicians can be found each night of the week.

Congratulations to the @g5trailcollective, People on the Move Old Fort, Kitsbow, Camp Grier, the USFS and all stakeholders on today’s wonderful Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Old Fort Trails Project! We were so excited to be there with an incredible crowd to support the massive amount of hard work done to get to this point — which is only the beginning! We can’t wait to see these trails for all come to full fruition.

The map shown is phase one of Old Fort Trails on the Pisgah National Forest’s Grandfather District. Following the groundbreaking, construction begins on 6 miles of new multi-use trails and new trailhead parking.

The Old Fort Gateway begins at the intersection of Jarrett Creek and Curtis Creek roads, a short 3 miles from downtown Old Fort. These community-oriented trails will provide much needed beginner experiences in the Pisgah National Forest.

🔹4 miles of beginner hike and mountain bike trails winding above Curtis Creek.
🔸2 miles of intermediate hike, bike, and horse cross-country connector trails.
🔹Endless loops created with Jarrett Creek road.
🔸Trailhead parking for up to 100 cars and trailers.

We look forward to many a volunteer trail building day, some fun support events in Old Fort, and seeing these trails in action come summer 2022!
