Graduating from the University of Georgia has been nothing short of a blessing. I thank God for His guidance and for carrying me through every season of this journey.

There truly is no institution more deserving of such loyalty. The people, the memories, and the experiences I’ve gained here will stay with me for the rest of my life. UGA, I love you forever. ❤️ taken in University of Georgia by @destinhoward_

I’m just grateful. Grateful that the Lord gave me this opportunity. Grateful that He used this journey to bring me closer to Him and, most importantly, to lead others toward Him in the process. The Lord has had His hand over my entire journey. I cannot express how good He has been to me. This place, program, and people have meant the world to me.

It has not been easy by any stretch of the imagination. There were times I doubted the path the Lord had me on, but time and time again, He showed me exactly why He placed me where He did.

My mission here was always so much bigger than being an athlete. It was about showing people who Jesus is. No game, stat, or achievement has brought me as much joy as growing alongside my teammates in our faith and pointing each other toward Christ.

There is not a single thing over these last four years that I would change. I would choose UGA time and time again. The coaches and people here have forever changed my life. They’ve made it hard not just to leave the sport, but to leave them. I’m grateful the Lord brought me to a place that values me as a person before all else.

Thank you to all of my teammates over the years and this amazing coaching staff. The people truly do make the place and this place always felt like home.

These have truly been some of the best years of my life. Thank you Jesus and thank you UGA❤️ taken in Athens, Georgia by @destinhoward_

Part 18 | What I Wish I Knew Series

I’m asking athletes one question: What do you wish you knew sooner about playing softball seriously?

One of the hardest challenges an athlete can face is feeling like their playing time defines their value. It’s easy to believe that if you’re not on the field, you’re not good enough.

But playing time and talent are not the same thing.

As you move to higher levels of competition, everyone around you is talented. Your role may change, but your ability, your work ethic, and your potential don’t disappear because of where your name is on the lineup card.

I love the reminder in this response: don’t let your role make you lose confidence in who you are. Keep preparing. Keep learning. Keep showing up. Opportunities often come when you least expect them, and you’ll want to be ready when they do.

Trust the gifts you’ve been given. Trust the work you’ve put in. And remember that your value as an athlete and as a person is never determined by the number of innings you play. by @destinhoward_

Another surprise delivery!

Before they left for Super Regionals, Jaydyn Goodwin and Destin Howard took some time to surprise a local softball team with a @PapaJohns pizza party.
