I use cupping to calm the nervous system because it’s the nervous system that is telling your muscles to tighten. So if you’re under stress and there is tension in your body, it slows down your blood circulation, and when your blood circulation is not optimal, it’s going to affect the lymphatic system and your cells will not be absorbing oxygen or nutrients. Look at the immediate difference lymphatic drainage can make just 24 hours post-op after a scar revision and lipo by @drgarlick My students got to see this incredible contour shift happen in real time during our hands on training!

What does this have to do with the lymphatic system? Once the brain sends in the rescue team to swell it, then we have our lymph nodes to scan it to see what immune system cells need to be sent there, but then it also has a cleaning and repair phase. A big part of that is the lymphatic system. In addition to reducing swelling,
lymphatic massage helps reduce fibrosis, the lumps and bumps that may occur under the skin a couple of weeks after surgery. The mediators of swelling send signals to your inflammatory system to begin depositing disorganized collagen, so around 14–21 days, you start to get stiff tissues. When you get rid of the swelling, you bypass that phase.
