One week later and still taking this in — incredibly honoured that Crescendo has won the Tropfest 2026 competition! Crescendo tells the story of a new mother whose babysitting plans fall apart on the morning of a life-changing audition. Built on trust and collaboration, this film is a tribute to parents everywhere striving to hold onto both their dreams and their responsibilities.
 A heartfelt thank you to our writer, director & producer Lianne Mackessy for trusting me to help shape the visual language of this story — it’s been such a rewarding experience working alongside you and discovering the film together. Devamanikandan is a cinematographer drawn to emotionally driven storytelling, blending visual artistry with a strong sense of human connection across cultures. His work spans narrative, television, and commercial projects, earning recognition across international platforms — including Best Cinematography at the Oniros Film Awards (New York), Pradhana Vizha Awards (Singapore), and the ACS NSW Cinematography Awards (2025). An alum of the Asian Film Academy (Busan) and the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) Vision Mentorship Programme, he holds a Master’s in Cinematography from AFTRS. Most recently, he shot Crescendo (2026), which went on to win First Place at Tropfest. Based between Australia and Singapore, he continues to craft images that serve the emotional heart of a story. by @devamanikandan
