EMERALD AND THE GLOOMSHADE 🎬🎬 - RELEASED!!!

CHECK OUT THE LINK IN BIO — @danathonjames

I normally didn’t touch traditional medieval fantasy when writing, I’m big on outlining large scale non traditional fantasy worlds, but I saw this as an opportunity to try and tell a smaller scale story and treated it more like a traditional medieval fantasy sandbox, where I can play with established tropes of that genre in a similar way to spaghetti westerns. Whether or not that was accomplished, definitely up for debate, but that was the idea.

We had about two and a half weeks to truly prepare for this shoot almost two years ago now, on a budget of like $175, and because of that, I’m so proud of this film getting put together. It was a blast working with @dre.kalli_10, the DP to get this one made.

LOGLINE:
When a hungry Enchanter hears in a local village about a mysterious monster attacking the forest, she offers to help take care of it…for the exchange of food, of course. However, after returning, the village folk find out the methods she used to take out the monster.

An excerpt from my film 'Emerald and the Gloomshade'! It’s a year this week since we filmed it, so a long time coming for sure. This was put together in about a week and a half with about a day and a half of shooting.

It was a really fun project to make alongside @dre.k.10, DP and a producer.

A bit late, but the first half of 2023 has been great to me.

Plenty of AD work, family time, and an abundance of set life in general. Plus, I got to bring my little brother on to his first legitimate production gig! by @devdxde
