Where The Wild Winds Blow… I have uploaded it publicly to YouTube. Link on my profile. This project became a big part of who I am as a director, and by far the most rewarding set and crew I have ever been a part of. It may be just a snippet of the director and stories I want to tell in the future, but it’s something akin to an end of an era for me as I take the next step into my directing journey. I took a lot of risks on this project, and a fellow directing friend of mine told me “if it were anybody else trying to make a pirate ship out of cardboard…”, well…you get the rest. It’s not a perfect film by any means, but you can see the work the entire crew put into it, HANDCRAFTED, and to me, that’s incredibly special. So to that I say, gather up all of your crew, and go make something special too. _________ LOGLINE: A cautious pirate yearning for security clashes with his captain’s passionate idealism over the fate of their godchild and a baby sea serpent. ________ Written and Directed by: @danathonjames Produced by: @Subsymphonika Cast: Crimson Goldheart: @jaketurnertown Ophelia Brightwater: @officialshelbybroadnax Jamie Brightwater: Isla Chiang (by way of @daniellechiang ) AD Dept: First AD: @devxde Second AD: @pdotjae Camera: Director of Photography: @jbsongaku First AC: @devanlesane First AC: @douglass.visions Chief Lighting Technician: @ronanaengus Art Dept: Production Designer: @champchampchampoy Set Design / Set Dec: @kabooboo Costume Designer: @elenorthefairbairn Set Builder: Mohamed Moustafa Set Painter: @sierra.fawn Art PA: Mani Sachdeva Puppet Maker: @officialshelbybroadnax Puppeteer: @elenorthefairbairn Makeup Artist: @kabooboo Sound: Sound Mixer: @hmacalister Sound Designer/Composer: @mysticskillet Script Supervisor: @1ts_fiona Set Photographer: @picturesbypaz Key Grip: Francine Amable Grip: Matthew Wong Locations: @subsymphonika Editor / Colorist: @DanathonJames DIT: @picturesbypaz Production Assistants: @helenek_forrealz Patrick Purcell @mary_velaco @espressojet @alisa.taubkina Casting Assist: @trickyinkproductions @bettinadevin.acting Special thanks to Soundwave Studios and @ccsfcinema

SwitchCraft OFFICIAL RELEASE LOGLINE: Two witch half-sisters attempt to perform a spell to bring back their deceased father, but when it apparently backfires, the two switch bodies. A year ago today, on my 30th birthday, I filmed SwitchCraft, a story of two witches who attempt a spell to bring back their deceased father, but when the spell fails, they switch bodies. And now on my 31st birthday, I release it to the world. Despite numerous setbacks in production, this film meant a lot to me in my film journey. The crew I had on this film has since become a lot of regulars for the films I have gone on to create since this film, and have loved growing with everyone and creating art together. On set, we had around 60 planes fly by during the course of the shoot, and this isn’t even hyperbole: by far the hardest production I’ve hand when it comes to post production sound. In addition to filming in a public place (with a permit), we had a lot of minor delays that caused us to fall behind on set, eventually losing the light. All this being said, my goal was to bring a George Lucas-inspired film to a magical medieval-esque fantasy world, essentially a spiritual successor to a previous film, Emerald and the Gloomshade. It’s not perfect, but without SwitchCraft, I would not have been as prepared for some of the projects I’ve done since then. Nothing like it. It’s a marvelous day in the B-A-Y, reporting live from the 415. If you’ve ever taken a trip to the bay, it’s nothing like it! Annual Photo Dump 🙌🏽 All I need is Tea and Chess. Nuff said.

EMERALD AND THE GLOOMSHADE 🎬🎬 - RELEASED!!! CHECK OUT THE LINK IN BIO — @danathonjames I normally didn’t touch traditional medieval fantasy when writing, I’m big on outlining large scale non traditional fantasy worlds, but I saw this as an opportunity to try and tell a smaller scale story and treated it more like a traditional medieval fantasy sandbox, where I can play with established tropes of that genre in a similar way to spaghetti westerns. Whether or not that was accomplished, definitely up for debate, but that was the idea. We had about two and a half weeks to truly prepare for this shoot almost two years ago now, on a budget of like $175, and because of that, I’m so proud of this film getting put together. It was a blast working with @dre.kalli_10, the DP to get this one made. LOGLINE: When a hungry Enchanter hears in a local village about a mysterious monster attacking the forest, she offers to help take care of it…for the exchange of food, of course. However, after returning, the village folk find out the methods she used to take out the monster. Emerald and the Gloomshade Teaser Trailer 🎬 RELEASE ON THURSDAY, AUGUST 28TH ✨✨ The first of my many releases I have planned over the next couple of months, this project was a small project that Dre Kallinicou, a buddy of mine and I put together in around two and a half weeks! It was the first film I had filmed since The Winston Chronicles a year prior. At this point, it’s been nearly a year and a half since we filmed Emerald, but I can see it was the start to showing my interest in the art design side of filmmaking. It’s not perfect, there were a lot of things we had planned, but couldn’t make happen in the allotted time, but my skills as a producer have drastically improved since this film, as I hope to show as the next few films are released. Traditional medieval fantasy isn’t my usual type of film, but I found myself to enjoy the style a lot and see myself entering the Medieval Sandbox this film started for me in the future time and time again. . . . Yep. I’ve got a lot of unreleased films. And now that I’ve begun to move towards doing film on a more full time basis, it’s time to show everyone what I’ve been creating the past 5 years. I’ll be releasing them in the order I filmed them in, with maybe one exception, to show the progress. I also plan to bring up my director’s process to see why certain choices were made. I hope to bring a formalist approach with my vision of wonder, and it should become obvious that I put a lot of emphasis on the production design elements of my films. Some of these films were made with a crew of over 20 people! And others with as little as 2 (including myself). I thank everyone who has helped me, and I definitely have a post coming to thank the people who’ve been with me on this journey for a while. But with that… MY NAME is DANATHON JAMES. And with tons of empathy and a plethora of imagination, I wish to bring a little bit of whimsy to your soul. #indiefilm #indiefilm #bayareafilm #film #cinema #sffilm #filmmaking #bayarea #whimsy #fantasy #adventure
