The SAG strike is over, y’all! It’s time to party down and celebrate the cast of DEVELOPMENT starting with our amazing Lead and Producer, Haskiri Velazquez! @haskiri - in your roles as actor AND PRODUCER, you went above and beyond with your leadership on set, emotional authenticity, and kindness. (You’re also a g’damn delight). Haskiri Velazquez is the future of Hollywood - no doubt! @sallopez9967 - you were a true emotional anchor to our story and we can’t tell you how hard we SCREAMED when you signed on! @leticiacasti117 - the fire and hilarity to you brought to the comedic and opinionated Reyna was honestly life-giving @raquelmcrod - this role was written for you exclusively and you did not let us down. Your insights and additions to Allie immensely elevated her character and we’re so happy you said yes to us Jeff Lorch - The layers this man brought to his role - or should we say, roles! You could’ve approached each characterization in a one-dimenional way, but in your hands, we felt the silliness, depth, and gravitas in every portrayal @katecookkatecook - we knew when we saw your self-tape that you had the nuance that was needed to sell your role. Your choices - and your glasses work - were impeccable (and hell yes “glasses work” is a thing, just check out Meryl Streep, okurrrrr) @softknox - what an honor to witness your legendary Second City comedy chops come to life through Steve, the most chip-eatingingest and aloof dad in the land @abigailrblythe - The joy, expertise, and precise physicality you brought to the role of Zelda were a pleasure to behold and we’re so thankful for everything you brought to this project To our entire cast - may the upcoming months far exceed your expectations. You held the line and deserve copious creative playgrounds, financial stability, and RESPECT for all you endured. We’re so proud of you and can’t wait to see what you book. And finally, to our Casting Directors, @mralanluna and @nebcasting88 - your relationships, skills, and collective reach brought us such incredibly kind and talented collaborators and we won’t forget everything this project owes you. 💛 by @development_film

Before the film reaches the screen, there’s an idea, a vision, and a whole lot of work behind it. At the Simi Valley HHF Film Showcase, we’re getting to know the filmmakers behind the films — how their stories developed, what inspired them, and what it took to bring the vision from concept to screen. This is where we go beyond the screening and into the story behind the story. Meet the filmmaker. 🎬 taken in Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center by @development_film
