Before the film reaches the screen, there’s an idea, a vision, and a whole lot of work behind it.

At the Simi Valley HHF Film Showcase, we’re getting to know the filmmakers behind the films — how their stories developed, what inspired them, and what it took to bring the vision from concept to screen.

This is where we go beyond the screening and into the story behind the story.

Meet the filmmaker. 🎬

2025 was a year of reflection and growth beyond my comfort zone. Hard, necessary, yet also full of light. Here are some of the people, places, and moments that made it ✨✨✨

Highlights:
- Traveled to Borrego Springs, San Diego, San Francisco, Colombia, France, Belgium, and good ol’ Chicago
- Bonded with mi familia venezolana in Cali, Colombia (especialmente en el Museo de Caliwood)
- Salsa danced in the rain in La Calle De Sabor (Cali is the salsa 💃🏻 capital of the 🌎)
- Coffees, dinners, movies, music, book-shopping, and soul-searching with friends
- @astropical concert @ the Hollywood Bowl
- Caught two of my favorite directors @coralie_fargeat and @edgarwright IN PERSON at screenings of their films
- Was lucky enough to screen two short films (@development_film & #Useless) at multiple festivals, including my neighborhood theater @am_cinematheque
- Not pictured: Experienced a creative rebirth wandering a Parisian cemetery, and got myself back into running

Wishing you a luminous 2026 💫
