2026 Fantasy/Sci-fi Releases!

I probably should have made this two posts. Sorry it’s so long! 😂 And this isn’t even all the ones I wanted to add!

This year is going to be great! Especially if we get Red God. 😬

What releases are you excited for this year?

It’s me, hi!

Thanks for being here! I’m a freelance proofreader and avid reader.

I love reading and perfecting an author’s writing while still maintaining their voice and vision. 💕I love working with indie and self-publishing authors!

📚 I love fiction—mostly fantasy, romance, and dystopian novels.
📚I have been homeschooling my children for over 9 years. It’s hard and humbling, but being able to instill a love of reading and learning in them is so rewarding.

✨I’m so excited to share all things books, stories, and writing with you!

BRB, gotta go listen to all of Twenty One Pilots’ discography while reading Victorious. Because V.E. Schwab said that would be the soundtrack for this book! 🙌

Getting to see Schwab speak last night was AMAZING!! It was her first time in Vegas, and I really hope it’s not the last! Hearing about her inspiration and how she approaches writing was really incredible.

I’m so close to finishing Vengeful and you better believe I will be starting Victorious IMMEDIATELY!

Have you read The Villains Series? Is this one on your TBR?

🍂September Wrap-Up!🍂

Oh, hey! Hi! 👋 It’s been a while since I’ve shown my face. But I am alive and well, and maybe a little frazzled. Working away from home 4 days a week while still homeschooling, cooking, cleaning, getting kids to extracurriculars, and trying to stay sane is tough work. And I give huge props to working moms, because this is A LOT.

Anyways… I did still somehow end up reading 8 books this month!

🍁Royal Assassin by Robin Hobb
🍁The Knave and the Moon by Rachel Gillig
🍁Dead Beat by Leigh Bardugo
🍁Green and Deadly Things by Jenn Lyons
🍁Vicious by V.E. Schwab
🍁Bodies of Magic by Freya Marske
🍁Heir of Prophecy by Analeigh Sbrana
🍁Son of the Serpent by Shauna Lawless

Have you read any of these yet?

✨Vicious by V.E. Schwab✨

Do you remember, back in the early 2000’s, the TV show Heroes?? Yes, 20 years ago. The one with Hayden Panettiere and Jess from Gilmore Girls. 😂

Obviously Vicious is a different story, BUT it had all the same vibes! Please tell me I’m not crazy, and you guys know what I’m talking about.

I am not normally one to like urban fantasy, but I am obsessed with these books! Fast-paced but heavy on the character development, short chapters, morally grey characters, found family…YES.

Victor and Eli are college students who start writing their dissertation on EOs (ExtraOrdinaries) but they take it to the next level and try to actually create them.

This was only my second V.E. Schwab book. The first was The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, which I thought was just okay. I LOVE this book so much more! Schwab uses a lot of time jumping, so that might be an issue for some people, but I like it!

I am already halfway through Vengeful and it’s just as good. There is something about these books that just makes you want to keep turning the pages!

So tell me, have you read this series yet? What are you waiting for?!

I was going to post this shelfie yesterday, but it didn’t happen. So here it is on a Monday! 😂

I decorated my bookshelves a bit for Halloween!

Some of my favorite things:
Crocheted witch hat for Rocky 🧙
Gargoyles, Bartholomew!

Have you added any holiday decorations on your bookshelves? Or what’s your favorite holiday decoration that you put out every year?

S E P T E M B E R

Tftt @samstory_86 !

I had to scour all the shelves in my house for this one! Why are the books on the bottom of the stack always smaller than the ones on the top? 😂

S- Ship of Destiny
E- Empire of the Damned
P- The Priory of the Orange Tree
T- Twelve Lives
E- Empire of Silence
M- The Maidens
B- Babel
E- East of Eden
R- Royal Assassin

I think finding a T book that wasn’t the word THE was probably the hardest part for me. 😂

Happy 21st of September! I hope everyone has an amazing week, and I hope your weather is at least 10° cooler! 🍂

It’s time for a Sunday Shelfie!

I rarely post photos of my living room shelves. It is SO hard to get good pictures with all the reflections in the glass on these ones. But trust me they look great in the space, and I love them! 😂

First and second pictures are of my shelves that have nonfiction and classics. It’s also where I store a lot of my puzzles. (No, I don’t hang my puzzles when I’m done. I immediately break them apart and put them back in the box to do again later. Yes, I’m a psycho like that.)

The last slide is my kids’ bookshelf. It’s a mess in there right now. 😂 But hey, we are being transparent. 🤷‍♀️

What are your Sunday plans? Any reading happening?

I finally started Dead Beat and I am flying through it way too fast. I don’t want it to end!

✨REVIEW!✨
Son of the Serpent
By @shauna_lawless_author

Shawna Lawless does it again with book two of the Gael Song Era 2!

In Son of the Serpent Isolde is learning to use her gifts, we are getting more backstory from Cuan, and the Formorians are even more evil, which I didn’t think could happen!

The first 1/4 was hard to get into. But I think for me it was because it was a lot of Donnchad/Gormflaith’s POVs and I really wanted to see more from Isolde and Cuan. But it picks up so much for the last half of the book, and I flew through it!

I love how Shawna writes historical events! It really makes you feel like you are there. I absolutely love these characters, and how she has represented some of the major historical ones.

You know an author is amazing at character work when you absolutely HATE a character, but are still interested in their POV! Angelo has made it on my “top characters I love to hate” list.

I highly suggest not skipping the historical notes in the back of the book! They are so fascinating!

I am simultaneously scared out of my mind and also so excited for the next book!

Thank you to @netgalley and @headofzeus for the E-ARC!

Happy #Farseerfriday!!

Yes, I am still very excited about Dead Beat and the news of Emma volume 9 all happening this week! But it’s Friday, and Friday is for Farseer and @therealrobinhobb !

I will be starting my reread of Assassin’s Quest soon, so of course I had to put this beauty right on top!

And a flat-lay isn’t complete at my house without some curious pups 🐶

QOTD: If you could have any magic from one of your favorite books, what would it be?
Obviously I would choose the wit!

Song choice is for Assassin’s Quest, IYKYK 😉

It’s Dead Beat release day!!! 🦉

My most anticipated release this year!!

Apparently I have to wait until Thursday to get my preordered copy 😭 I should know by now I am not patient enough for preorders.

If you haven’t read this series yet, what are you waiting for?! If you like dark academia with your fantasy, I promise you are missing out if you don’t pick this up.

And for everyone who already has their copy, I’m so happy for you 😒

We all need to give @lbardugo all the praise! She has worked ridiculously hard on this book and its release. She was running everywhere at World Con for panels and talks, and she still managed to be amazing with signing for her fans! Then she immediately goes on tour? Crazy! I hope you can get some much needed rest now, Leigh!

This is what happens when I get stuck waiting for my daughter in the library… 🤣🤣

I come home with multiple books that were not on my list to read this month. 🤦‍♀️

Let’s put bets on whether I get to them before they are due back!

Ya’ll, I’m starting a new job 4 days a week, plus my other part time gigs. Who do I think I am? 😂

Have you read any of these? They have all been on my TBR for a while. And Green and Deadly Things seems perfect for spooky season.
