Meet Your Mentor: Dr. Devinia Lavan-Iswaran 💙

Get to know the incredible clinicians guiding your journey! Dr. Devinia is a dedicated Mentor, Clinical Advisor and Educator here at the Aligner Dental Academy.

Having started her orthodontic journey back in 2006, she brings a wealth of hands-on experience to the community. In 2017, she joined the Diploma programme and hasn't looked back, recently completing the Advanced Diploma in Clear Aligner Therapy.

Beyond the clinic, Dr. Devinia is a passionate advocate for female professionals in the dental industry. Her outside interests include:
🔹 Being an active member of the Women Dentists Network.
🔹 Launching the Wellness of Women initiative.
🔹 Supporting and helping out at The Dental Motherhood.

We are incredibly lucky to have her expertise and supportive energy on our mentoring team.

Family Sunday lunch at #myhome that fills up the memory banks of our hearts and souls. For a long time I could not even bear to come back to my home. I recreated spaces and slowly found a new rhythm for heartbeat in my home.

Here we are. Hosting for my cousin’s visit from Las Vegas and to celebrate my niece’s 22nd birthday and graduation. This is what a home is truly about: gathering people around the table. It’s overwhelmingly daunting to host, even more so to host large numbers. What makes it easier and all the more beautiful is that I’ve delegated and everyone pitches in. Someone answers the door, someone pours the drinks, someone attends to the barbecue and so many willing washer-uppers.

Home made sausage rolls, a creamy mac cheese, spicy lamb lasagne and an irresistible chocolate Guinness cake- total soul food that keeps my ‘village’ happy.

Family isn’t always blood. It’s the people in your life who want you in theirs. The ones who accept you for who you are. The ones who would do anything to see you smile, and who love you no matter what.

We went on the dodgems three times. I drove. He drove. I prayed. I drove again. We survived.

Every girl needs a male #bestie Part I
We met aged 4 in kindergarten and bonded over playdoh,waterplay, the climbing frames and munching the tops off iced gems.
Who needs a fairy godmother when your male bestie @paul.rozario.falcone will take you for a modern day Cinderella experience at the Trinity College Ball in #oxford : to twirl you on the #redcarpet , to be served champagne through a hedge, to drink a row of shots, to eat one of the best cheese toasties made by MacDaddy, to ask others to take photos of us for our memories, to walk up flights of stairs to a roof terrace to see the views of Oxford from the rooftop and to drink more champagne and have bumps of caviar, to take wefies in a lift hours past midnight, and to even drink more shots….. taken in Oxford, England - UK by @devinia_coco

Organised a fabulous Ladies Day at Ascot for the Women Dentist Network, our theme was Vita Shades with a splash of this year’s colour of the season, tomato red. By the end of the day we realised it could have more appropriately been themed Bloody Mary! by @devinia_coco

There never is the right time, you don’t have enough time, these are the greatest of our excuses. Sometimes you just have to dive in and I did just that. I had the absolute privilege to be surrounded by phenomenal, great minds who all stepped up whether it was to deliver the mind blowing lectures or to get our brains in gear to absorb the content or just do a little dance before the morning began.
