POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

when I decided I wanted to make a new reel, I really was questioning myself about what a reel even is or what it’s supposed to be or represent. I found myself really searching for a good answer to this question and instead of doing what I might have done in the past, which would be to focus on what other people wanted to see in my work, I realized that it needs to be about what I want to see in my own work. What are things that I really care about and what actually motivates and inspires me to go out into the world and make movies. And the answer for me I found to be really simple, it’s just about emotions, and finding ways to capture them. That’s what drives me to continue, what propels me forward. When I finish a movie and go to the theater, my favorite thing to do is to watch the people watching the movie, and see their reactions, that’s what makes everything worth it. The 4am calls where I had to pry my glued eyes open to make it to set, the waiting in the freezing cold and rain and snow for that perfect moment, trying to get the perfect take. So this is what I made - “recent moments” is a collection of some of my favorite work from the past 10+ years of making moving pictures. there are many many people who helped make all of these shots happen, too many to list here but you all know who you are and none of these images would have been possible without you. I’m really proud of this stuff and it means a lot to see it all here together - here’s to always learning, here’s to always getting better, always having fun. onward and upward. by @devinpickering

Please join us at the Crandell Theatre (@crandelltheatre) on Thurs, Nov 12, 7pm for the premiere of “Witness: dancing across boundaries”

You can buy tickets by visiting our link in bio or on the Crandell’s website: https://crandelltheatre.org/film/witness-dancing-across-boundaries/

The 13-minute documentary by cinematographers Angela Beallor (@angelabeallor) and Devin Pickering (@devinpickering) follows Sondra Loring’s (@sloring19) journey from prison volunteer to founder of MovingPotential, as well as Eric Cherry’s path from the classroom to the stage.

“Witness” is a fascinating look at the yoga and dance classes Sondra led for men at Greene Correctional Facility, and the creative connection built between incarcerated participants and outside artists.

The evening includes a screening, a live panel, and a performance excerpt. Then stick around for food, drinks, and a chance to meet the artists and connect with fellow MovingPotential supporters.

All proceeds support MovingPotential’s work bringing trauma-informed yoga, movement, and mindfulness to people impacted by justice and addiction. taken in Hudson Valley, NY by @devinpickering
