⚡️ Part one of our three part docuseries is out now for the public!

Part one of our docuseries focuses on the police forces operating along the frontline in Ukraine. In this segment, we accompany a special-purpose police unit, the “White Angels” of the Donetsk region, as they evacuate civilians from the town of Druzhkivka. The White Angels have become a target of Russian propaganda, as the presence of civilians in the line of fire serves the interests of those attacking the town.

The White Angels of Donetsk were the first of their kind and now provide guidance to other departments along the front based on their experiences, which were gained other departments along the front on what they have learned through blood, sweat, and tears. We travel along frozen roads and sidewalks as the ever-present threat of drones grows closer and closer to Druzhkivka.

You will see civilians, the majority elderly, who have packed their lives into small bags and suitcases in an attempt to get somewhere more safe. They are leaving behind their lives, homes, and cherished memories. taken in Donetsk Oblast by @devinsanluis

FPV drones have emerged as such a significant threat that teams have taken on the role of anti-drone infantry. They patrol specific areas, actively hunting drones for destruction.

The persistent drone threat hovering above us repeatedly interrupted our attempts to conduct interviews by @devinsanluis while we were with the Khyzhak Brigade.

Patrol Police Officers, Hruch and Zohan, talk through what this job entails and how they started this program within the Khyzhak Briga taken in Donetsk Oblast by @devinsanluis

This is one of the newer drones in Ukraine’s arsenal.
The Baton drone. A bridge between cheap $300 style Lightning drones and the larger multi-thousand dollar mid-range strike drones. Coming in at around $1,300 the Baton flies on FPV software and allows for rapid deployment with the idea of “eventually one will get through the defenses.”

They don’t use radio or mesh systems to stay connected. Instead they use a larger quad-copter to provide a visual signal link developed by the third assault. It was a very busy day with the @khyzhak.brigade but I am always very happy to work with the officers and see this technology being used firsthand. taken in Ukraine by @devinsanluis

Working with the 15th national guard “Kara-Dah” as there artillery team fires off shell, after shell at the approaching Russian assault. Shells fire out of the gun as fast as they can load them—the old Soviet era gun giving all it has as the skilled crew quickly moves to fulfill orders. taken in Donetsk Oblast by @devinsanluis
