"The partisans that operated behind the lines in the 'Zone of Protection' that the PRIC had declared over the Pacific Northwest were of, in no uncertain terms, a different breed of warrior. Never staying in one place for long, the myriad of well organized but small cells constantly moved. Leadership was decentralized, and cells would seldom contact each other unless it was to exchange intel or coordinate a large operation. And operations were always conducted at night or early dawn, which led to their nickname of being called 'jiangshi' by PLA conscripts, who constantly found entire patrols, outposts, and sometimes even a whole FOB disappearing into the night."
