High power output is only helpful, if it helps.

I think one of the greatest misconceptions by end users, is the perceived need for a full power LAM. While they do provide some advantages, you as the end user need to understand the devices output, and how to leverage it.

A laser can bloom on a target (as seen here) and provide a less refined sight picture, depending on environment and distance. An illuminator can completely wash out your sight picture and object definition, if too powerful. The tool actually ends up working against you.

Now, im not advocating against high output units - I'm advocating for better application of that power, with more control for the user. This, paired with proper training, is how we leverage these tools for an advantage.

Power output is a factor, it's just not the most important factor.

In my experience, a lower power output, with more refinement and definition can provide more value. You have a more crisp dot for a more clear aiming solution. Your illuminator provides you with valuable information, not depriving you of it.

This is a worthwhile discussion in my opinion, as we continue to see more affordable, overpowered, imported lasers hit the market.

If it's worth having, it's worth working for.

Here, or on YT, I get lots of feedback on Night Vision being unobtainable. Or lately, something like "it's for end users, you don't need it" to explain away not accessing the capability.

Single tube, dual tubes, quads, gen 2, gen 3, white phos, green phos - almost none of it matters more than taking the steps. Commit to a goal, and then chase it. If it was easy, everyone would do it, right?

Finally getting back to some med knowledge sharing, sitting down with @buckeye_tacmed this week.

As "tactically minded" and prepared individuals, med is still one of the most overlooked, and most valuable skillsets. Its applications far and away supersede the scope of tactical training and shooting.

Joe and I got into a lot, including TECC versus TCCC, gear and kit, civilian verses professional considerations, and more. It was a truly awesome discussion, and a good one for those of you who have also been neglecting med training.

The @lowlightinnovations UH-1.

Built from metal and reinforced polymer, this is yet another great option in the market for lightweight, full-featured housings.

I think this offeres a lot for the price as well as the weight. I'm looking forward to time with this to see how it compares to the MH-1 unit.

While this doesn't have the modularity included in its design, I think that adds to its durability. For folks who liked the design of the MH-1 but didn't need that, this replaces those options with a potentially stronger build, without giving up much at all!

A much-needed little adventure with @devlin_maraschky 🦭🤍 Celebrating 2 years 🫶🏼

We stayed at the dreamiest little boathouse themed Airbnb in Anacortes, just 10 minutes from Deception Pass—the perfect home base for a cozy PNW oceanfront getaway. 🌊

Day two, we hopped on the walk-on ferry to Friday Harbor and spent the day exploring the shops and the Whale Museum. ⛴️ If you visit soon, definitely stop at Olive’s Beestro for lunch. The fish tacos + hamburger are SO good.

Day three, we headed back and made a stop at the naval air museum - you can try your hand flying some simulations! 🛬

Already wishing we could do this whole trip all over again. 🤍

Next time, though, I’m keeping my eyes peeled for more Bigfoots. 👀🌲 Devlin won our “How Many Big Feet You Meet” game (basically I Spy, but Sasquatch edition), and apparently tourist shops don’t count. 😩😂
