Humanity in Downtown Boston, shot on Pathfinder/Kodak Verita.

Detailed highlights, high color saturation, deep blacks — that classically cinematic look. Verita is a solid film stock imho.

Which frame is your favorite? 1-7

Humans, their pets, and enough weirdness to make it interesting. All shot around Downtown Crossing in Boston.

Leica M6 + Voightlander Ultron II 28mm + @todayspursuit Pathfinder 35mm film (respooled Kodak Verita motion picture film).

I got my hands on a few respooled rolls of @kodak’s new motion picture film, “Verita” from my friends at @todayspursuit (labeled as “Pathfinder” on their site), which was created for the latest season of HBO’s Euphoria. I loaded up my trusty @leica_camera M6 and headed over to one of my favorite street photography spots in Boston, the @brattlebookshop to take it for a spin.

A lot of people have been saying Verita is modified Portra, but from the couple rolls I developed it feels distinctly its own. More on that in the next slides…

These photos are from two different days, but similar lighting conditions. Overall Verita seems to lean more magenta than Portra/Ektacolor Pro. Kodak says this film should be colored via digital intermediate when using it for motion, and I essentially did the same via Negative Lab Pro by neutralizing some of the magenta in the darks while processing (yes there was even more magenta than this to start).

The yellows feel slightly greener than reality, unless…

You underexpose. This shot was at least a full stop underexposed, maybe more, and the yellows pushed fully orange (check out the signs on the book racks).

Side note, I really dislike shooting people from behind in my street photography, but for some reason this one works for me.

Verita also feels more saturated than Portra to me, I dialed back the saturation on this one a decent amount and it’s still very poppy imho.

The one that got away. I totally screwed up my focus on this one, and it was the shot I was most excited for on the roll. I saw this nun walking up to the shop as I was approaching, and ran up the opposite side of the street to catch up with her as she passed. There were cars driving down the street between us and passing in front of my lens while I was trying to critically focus. I had maybe one second between cars to snap this, and didn’t hit my mark. I should have zone focused but in the moment got a little lost. You live you learn.

This is why I always carry a camera. My potentially mundane walk to and from work becomes one of my favorite parts of my day. The camera makes you appreciate all the little moments that are constantly happening around us but you might not take the time to appreciate. This kind of thing has been said a million times before by a million other photographers, but it doesn’t make it less true.

All shot yesterday on my walk to and from work, on my @leica_camera M10-R

If you haven’t seen The Dæmon yet, now’s your chance to check it out for free if you have Amazon Prime. We promise you’ll really enjoy it if descents into madness and cosmic forces that make you question the significance of your existence sound like a good time to you.

Skating on film from the early 2000’s, part 2. Lots of good memories from Boston through NH with this crew. A couple of these were shot on a Pentax K1000 that I found in my parents closet, and was my first camera. The rest were on the Canon EOS-3, including the first one which was shot with a remote TTL flash. Skating by @ralphy66603 @anoel17 @ericrkaye @jon__wolf
