Massive thanks to @the_real_mr_transylvania for writing this @screenslate piece about my movie, Mid/Evil Times. I'm going to take the occasion of this publishing to once more plug tne NY premiere screening of this movie (tonight, march 9th) at @roxycinemanyc at 7 (link in bio, Q&A after the show with @adrian.ander.son ).

I also want to plug the writings of the author, Chris, who wrote this piece. He has a ton of stuff up on Screen Slate that you should check out! I especially enjoyed his interview with documentarians Tony Ganz and Rhody Streeter, whose films I've seen, but who I honestly thought might be deceased or at least not accessible for an interview.

Finally, the following people are friends I couldn't have made M/ETs without. All credit is due to them, and idk, if they or anyone else wants to post a promo about the screening tonight, I guess that wouldn't hurt! Thanks

I made a music video for my pal @banginbuster 's new song 'Change Me'. Starring @mycharades_grease2 @veronicamaeshirley and @banginbuster, shot/directed/edited by yours truly. Mini DV, bootleg locations, Jean Rollin-inspired, you know the drill...

I know no one ever watches anything all the way through on here, but it would mean a lot to me if you gave this one a full spin because we worked hard on it, plus I consider this a short film, essentially. And of course, don't be a chump, turn the damn sound UP. by @devondanielgreen

MID/EVIL TIMES (dir. Devon Daneil Green) screens on Nov. 21st 2026 at the Cinecenta at 6pm + Q&A with Devon as a part of DUFF. Tickets on duffvictoria.neocities.com via @gigpit.ca

In the near future, criminals are forced to act in art movies instead of going to jail. Ten years later, a group of theatre students attempt to recreate one of these films. Part Godard video-essay, part cheeky sci-fi comedy, Mid/Evil Times is a wildly inventive micro-budget film that plays with art, artifice, labour, authenticity, and the nature of cinema itself.

Made with an SOV ethos and a restless, unpredictable style, it is a whimsical mindfuck that constantly asks viewers to expect the unexpected.

“Green’s ambitious film is made up almost entirely of digressions that reflect the hyperactive contemporary mind and its maker’s own unique concerns and sense of humor.”

In anticipation of this Friday’s screening at @whammyanalogmedia, I interviewed @valbarano about obscure SOV slasher film Jason’s Curse for a piece you can now read over on @ipod__video’s Substack. We talk Friday The 13th, cable-access horror marathons, Bryan Fortin, the thin veil between an SOV filmmaker’s worldview and the text of their cinema, Todd and Lisa Cook, and much more!

Plz consider coming out to the screening on Friday, and plz check out Vince’s work over at @splittoothmedia. I spent much of the beginning of the summer devouring his book Subterranean Cinema, and as soon as I got to the Zones Of Evil section knew that I somehow wanted to somehow be involved in programming/giving exposure to Fortin. Thanks to Vince for letting me steal his research valor and thanks to Eddie for lending me the keys to his site for the week so I could take it for a joy ride around a haunted part of Massachusetts!

Great news- I will be moderating a conversation with @valbarano following a screening of the maximally rare Friday The 13th SOV tribute/homage/brain-melter “Jason’s Curse” at @whammyanalogmedia on 9/11! This of course is part of world’s greatest film series SOV September, so get your tix now to hear me and Vince talk all things Jason, Bryan Fortin, Zones Of Evil, cable access horror shows and FT13th in general, “taking” Manhattan, and I’m sure much more. Tix in bio, and plz check out Vincent’s excellent books Aesthetic Deviations and Subterranean Cinema, which is how I first learned about the existence of Jason’s Curse! by @devondanielgreen

@tape_losangeles @ipod__video @tuckthesuckman @fracturednoise @jerobinson @forgetaboutitjake @veronicamaeshirley

I’m very excited to share more about this soon. For now you can support this project by being excited about it (if so inclined).

Exactly one week until Crocodile Dose (movie I deeply love) plays at @lumierecinemala

Real heads already know that I, a sensitive filmmaker guy, will be moderating the post-screening Q & A with a murderer's row of sensitive filmmaker guys: @chase_mackay @greekfilth @mr._jasonwatrs and @tuckthesuckman.

REAL real heads should be interested to know that pre-screening I will be following the boys around on the streets with a video camera, capturing moments for a featurette to be included on the inevitable Janus Contemporaries @janus_films edition of this wonderful film. If you've ever wanted to do any of your favorite pranks and challenges with the Crocodile Boys, then come on down Weds June 3rd to whatever neighborhood the Lumiere theater is located in (Beverly Hills I guess? That doesn't seem right.)

RIP to my grandfather, Roy Strodder.

Immigrated to the US from Hull, England. Was a draughtsman who worked on submarines. Built his own house. Owned and operated a mountain motel in the 60s that looked like a friendly version of Bates Motel. Eater of yorkshire puddings and bovril on toast. Every Christmas morning he would get up and rush into the living room yelling (English accent) "Has he been??"* One time his brother took flying lessons, and when he flew a bi-plane over Roy's house, Roy got on the roof fully nude and waved the union jack around like a mad man. Later in life would watch the traffic from his balcony and told me that he could tell how the economy was doing based on the amount of cars on the road and the way they were driving. Really funny guy and I'm lucky to have known him. RIP Roy. He has been.
