NO WAY. I still cannot believe this. I can’t possibly express how grateful I am to have won this year’s CBS Audition Spotlight at @societyvoicearts That’s Voiceover Expo. To even be mentioned among the sheer talent that participated in this contest is an incredible privilege. I am so grateful to SOVAS, @cbstv, @joanthevoice, @rudygaskins1, @ctcvo, @vanessasolidvo, @rsatalent, my top 6 coach @ibeata.pozniak , my promo coach @jmcdemos, and all the judges, coaches, and VO’s that I’ve learned from over the years, I cannot thank you enough. Sometimes I get to meet my heroes, and it’s awesome. At @fanexpodenver last weekend I had the privilege of meeting 2 actors whose work I’ve revered for ages. The great @reallynolannorth was a major inspiration for me in my VO career, and to talk the business and joke around with this monumental talent and incredible man was a dream come true.

@valoriecurry ‘s phenomenal performance as Kara in Detroit: Become Human can only be rivaled by her incredible role as Katherine in The Lost Symbol (a series I’ve watched all the way thru several times.) It was an honor to talk game development, VO, and the great @eddieizzard with such an amazingly talented and kind person.

What do you do when your mentor and best human ever comes to town? You put on a t-shirt with her face on it and come back from Europe a day early to see her, that’s what. It was so incredible to finally get to see @vanessamarshall1138 in person again after almost 2 years. I still find myself marveling at how fortunate I am to know this woman. She’s pushed me, stood up for me, challenged me, and made me a better voice actor and person every time we speak. With the added benefit of being one of the funniest people alive. When your idols not only know you, but actively root for you, there’s nothing more you could ask for. I LOVE YOU TO THE MOON!!!

Took me a little while to get back to real life after this transformative Euro Retreat in Barcelona. (The most transformative part is that my body is now 65% jamón iberico.) Neither the pics I added here nor anything I’m about to write do the people, experiences, or city I just spent the week with justice at all. I’ll do my best tho:

First and foremost thank you to @jmcdemos @acevents_acollins_ @jessicamathison_vo @gabry_sher for your tireless efforts in making this thing happen. What you all do to create this is a gargantuan undertaking. Your attention to detail and unwavering commitment to make the Euro Retreat what it is cannot be described as anything less than awe-inspiring. Thank you for creating this place for us, and making it the absolute best it can be.

Thank you so much to the presenters @tinamorasco @terencewithanf @beevonyc @ctcvo @dammitjanet1115 @jonarmond @sppresents . Learning from and getting to spend time with you all during your classes and all the moments in between was a true honor and privilege. Thank you so much for being part of this.

Thank you to my fellow VO’s who joined this journey. I learned so much from you all, had the distinct pleasure and privilege of watching you work, and I am all the more better for getting to know you during this time. The talent in every room I walked into during this retreat was flooring. Thank you all for telling me your stories, and thank you for listening to mine. (and shout out to the Plus-One Voices!)

And thank you to @tinakamriani, who was beside herself when I told her I knew nothing about Barcelona, and quickly educated me as to why this place is so amazing. She said this city was gonna blow my mind and she was right. Having a great friend who knows where all the best things are in every square km of this wonderful place was a true blessing for a kid who’s studied a lot of Europe, but somehow (embarrassingly), not Spain. How wrong I was.
.
I enjoy every single moment of my career. Whether it’s in Spain, my booth, or in between. But this trip reminded me just how much immense joy exists within VO. It’s an honor to know you all.

WHOA THERE, PARTNER. It’s an honor to be nominated once again at the One Voice Awards this year. I know I’ve said it 100 times before, but to even be in the conversation with the stellar talent that occupy this space is still something I’ll never understand. It’s hard to get used to people liking what I do, but I’m eternally grateful for it.

Gave the sauna-booth a much needed makeover. This has been such a great recording space for me. Having originally been a sauna, it needed no insulation, only acoustic treatment. But over time the feeling of being locked in a dark, tiny box was starting to wear on me, so I decided to put some life into it.

This probably should’ve been a half day project, but my ignorance to how difficult it would be to get it done solo dragged it out across two 12+ hour days over a weekend. But I’m very happy with the result. Feels more alive, more like me.
.
Now, I know a shiny recording space means nothing if hard work isn’t going on inside it. It doesn’t matter what kind of space you’re recording in, if you’re putting in the work, then you’ll be successful in any recording space of any kind. But it’s helpful for me to look around every corner of this room and know the hard work I put into every inch of it, to remind me that I’m capable of creating things I’m proud of, and I will take that mentality to the mic every day.
