☀️Meet the Bookstagrammer☀️

Hey friends! My name is Devon (pronounced like devin) and I am a book girlie and fiber artist from LA ☀️.

I began to get deeply into reading during the postpartum period with my second child as a way to escape the stresses of parenthood and I’ve been hooked ever since! Although my favorite genres are horror, thrillers, and sci-fi I’m definitely a mood reader and read a variety of different genres (often several at a time 🙃).

I also love to crochet! I’ve been crocheting since I was 8 or 9 years old and I make a few pieces here and there for fun. I’m also currently teaching myself how to knit 🧶

I first started documenting my reading in 2024 over on TikTok (where I post primarily) and have enjoyed making so many new friends along the way.

If you’ve found my page, comment below and say hi 👋🏾. I’d love to make more bookish friends and build community with you all 💛✨

Moms need hobbies too 🧶

As a crocheter, learning to knit has been fun. So far, the only thing I’ve ever knitted has been socks 🧦

Trying to choose my words carefully to not violate community guidelines. As someone who has experienced CSA, I’m aware I’m probably a harsher critic than usual 😅

Some of my favorite authors are authors who force us as readers to sit with these uncomfortable moments and I usually think they’re very effective in forcing us to reflect on our personal bias and flaws as a society. At the top of my head, some authors who do this well are authors like Akwaeke Emezi, Toni Morrison, Octavia Butler, etc. But I’m overall very conflicted on this one
