POSTS STORIES REELS

sunday scaries 🕯️

This week is a bit more like…an accumulation of the month. Apparently, all of the photos I took were either of buildings, my tattoo from @tinysandwormtattoos, my coven, or Elijah Wood reaction pictures for every occasion.

Last year I was interviewed and quoted in my local newspaper, saying “Halloween is my Super Bowl.” Said at a ghost hunting event because of course it was. But I’ll admit…I’m a bit glad this year is coming to an end. Already excited to be beyond these long, dark days.

I was honored to read at a Halloween event at The Book Cellar with some other incredibly talented writers with @storystudio_chicago. Also got to spend a weekend with my incredible neighbor gals (matching cups and sweatshirts included), another successful witches ride, and a packed All Hallows Eve. Ending the busy month with an annual watch of Young Frankenstein.

Finished my novel! Started another one! Read some killer books, not a single bad one.

While I’m glad this month is over, I am so floored by how lucky I am to be in community with so many genuinely incredible people; in hopeful reconnection and building upon such sweet foundations with lifelong friends is somethingI cherish beyond words. October was brimming with that.

Okay anyway bye! by @devotedmarrow

“O, train me not, sweet mermaid, with thy note,
To drown me in thy sister’s flood of tears.
Sing, siren, for thyself, and I will dote”

Had the honor of writing an essay on @mothercain for the newest issue of @crossroads.folkhorror. “Inwardly They Are Ravening Wolves” is about false prophets, the lifelong effects of abuse, and the falsities of the American Dream. These harrowing themes within Preacher’s Daughter are intimate, heartbreaking, and close to home. I love Hayden, love this album, & am grateful to have been trusted to share my thoughts on music that has made such a lasting impression on me.

Thank you @scaryasfolk & @the_harvest_maids_revenge for including me and for all of their wonderful guidance in shaping this piece!

The pairing of the issue art with the start of my essay was totally unintentional and I am floored at how perfect they accompany one another!

So many wonderful and incredible names to be amongst!

Fabulous opening from the editors!

on my way to write about women and nature and yearning for safety and love and the emotional complexity of genderless femininity that lives within all of us and motherhood and the interconnectivity of it all // as we are the stewards of what is good and pure of heart in the world and our bodies are homes that no longer can be read and how we simply cannot educate men any more on consent and on responsibility and on kindness and on the sheer power of a woman because we have and we have and we have time again // and the truth is we all know they already know these things and the truth is that they do not care // hby? by @devotedmarrow
