POSTS STORIES REELS

@isdealliance is a community focused initiative working in Arewa and across Nigeria.

We exist because when vulnerable people and social problems are ignored, the entire community pays the price.

Here are three(3) things you should know about @isdealliance

First: Awareness.
We tell real stories and create conversations around issues many people look away from, especially in Arewa. Because people cannot care about what they don’t understand.

Second: Research.
Before proposing solutions, we ask questions.
We listen, study the problems, and try to understand what is truly happening on the ground, not what we assume is happening.

Third: Community projects.
Using what we learn, we design simple, people centered projects that respond to real needs with dignity, not pity.

@isdealliance is not about noise or charity. It is about understanding people, involving communities, and building change that actually lasts.

If you care about Arewa and want to be part of something thoughtful and meaningful,

After studying deviance in class, and knowing how we relate people to a deviant behaviour base on their socio-economic status, I just had to re-share this again.

It's crazy how our minds works as humans, how we perceive and see things is interesting, how prejudice we can be to our own.

But, I can at least say I know why now 🤷🏿‍♀️

If you understand my point of view on this, leave a comment 👇🏽 if you don't, also leave a comment 👇🏽 and let me know what you think instead 🙌🏽

A little throwback to our launch event @isdealliance

From the first guests walking in to the conversations, the preparations, the little details, and everyone who showed up to be part of the moment, every scene holds a memory.

It was a day of shared vision, new connections, and the beginning of a journey we had spent so much time hoping and working towards.

Looking back, we are reminded that behind every milestone are people who give their time, energy, and support to make it happen. To everyone who was part of that day, thank you for being part of our story.🤗

This was the beginning of ISDE’s next chapter, and we are only getting started🤍

12 September 2026, is the day we finally did something very special at the ISDE 🥹

Unveiling of our first flagship project 🥳 #themaakohproject

The photographs from that day will eventually become memories. The banners will come down. The programmes will be packed away. The food will be forgotten. The room will host other conversations.

But the work that began there is supposed to continue long after the unveiling.

MAAKOH Cohort 01 is now entering its real phase.

If there is one thing that 12 September taught is, it is that beginnings do not always look grand.

they look like a small room in a State Library, they look like volunteers working late to make things happen, they look like a last-minute venue, an improvised podium, a hurriedly edited video and food being packed away after everyone has gone home, they look like an unexpected Almajiri boy walking through a door because he heard people talking about something that sounded like it might include him.

And sometimes, after everything, you sit quietly and realise:

We actually did it.

What started as an idea has begun to become a journey.

The MAAKOH project has begun.

And now, the real work begins 🥂 This is a shout out to all our volunteers at @isdealliance 🙌🏽🤍

Our guests at the official unveiling of the Maakoh project under @isdealliance 🙌🏽 we are still not over how beautiful everything turned out, everyone was interested in the discussion, everyone was just invested, everyone listened and everyone contributed 😁 it was like an intimate family reunion 🙅🏽‍♀️

It made us realize that truly so many us want real sustainable change and growth.

Shout out to all the amazing people that showed for the beginning of our journey 🥳🥰 by @dexarh

After months of meetings, planning and commitment to a noble cause, the idea finally came to light, starting with the MAAKOH Project, an initiative hatched and nurtured by two incredible young Northern women with a beautiful vision of what the North should be.

Born into a family of Alarammas, @dexarh dared to dream of a better life filled with opportunities and hope for the boy child who has become a victim of the now-broken Almajiri system of education.

As big as the dream was, Hadiza’s vision was fuelled by the extraordinary hope of an ally, @xee.bae , who also decided that enough was enough, and that there was no better time to act than now.

Soon, the idea began to take shape, bringing together like-minded individuals from different walks of life, the health sector, media, civil society, multimedia and other fields.

Through the daring efforts of these changemakers, the MAAKOH Project sets out on a one-year journey to change the lives of 10 Almajiri pupils by equipping them with practical skills and knowledge that will give them greater control over their futures.

The skills include, among others, carpentry, phone-charging businesses and laundry.

The project will also document the pupils’ journey throughout the year through an impact-storytelling initiative, capturing their experiences, challenges, progress and transformation.

I am particularly grateful to the founders for giving me the opportunity to participate and contribute the little I have towards changing the narrative in this part of Nigeria.

Working side by side with the incredible young people involved in this project has strengthened my conviction that the North is in safe hands — and that we are the ones we have been waiting for to make meaningful change happen.

As the saying goes, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”

We must choose to do something. by @dexarh

Meet Abubakar, the Highlight of the launch of our Almajiri project this Saturday.

Abubakar is an Almajiri student, who walked into the event uninvited.

We saw him seating at the back listening, wondered when he came in but didn’t gave much thought into it, we even thought he works at the state library and was waiting for us to be done with the venue.

Not once did it occurred to us that he might be interested in what we’re discussing.

Until after the event ended and we were taking pictures. He approached us and introduced himself.

Abubakar is an Almajiri student who is now an Arabic language teacher in his community. He told us how he empowered himself, learned different skills and became even a researcher.

He was passing by when he overheard what was being said and came in to listen.

What impressed us the most was that Abubakar wasn’t asking to be supported as well but he wanted to volunteer and support instead.

Abubakar reminded us about two things: first, why what we are building is important, and secondly, how for a very long time many Almajiri students have strive to be good people in our society without a helping hand, Now imagine what will happen if these children became empowered?

Alhamdulillah🤍🥹 The real work is about to begin 🙅🏽‍♀️

Yesterday we officially launched THE MAAKOH PROJECT, our first flagship project under @isdealliance 🥳 So many beautiful moments to share but let’s start with these ones 😁🤍

Alhamdulillah Ya rabbi🤍 by @dexarh

Can’t remember the last time I wore proper clothes and took a proper selfie 🤭🙌🏽🙉

Before there was ISDE, there was MAAKOH 🥹

These were some of the very first graphics I designed for the MAAKOH Project in September 2025, when the idea was still just beginning to take shape.

At the time, MAAKOH was the whole idea. We were thinking specifically about the boy child in Northern Nigeria, particularly boys within the Almajiri system, and asking a simple but difficult question: what would it look like to intentionally walk alongside these boys and create pathways towards knowledge, opportunity, health, skills and mentorship?

We knew we did not want to build another project that only talked about the problem. We wanted to understand the boys themselves. Their realities. Their abilities. Their dreams. Their communities. And, most importantly, what could become possible when the right people, resources and opportunities came together around them.

But as we continued to develop the idea, we realised something else.

The problems we cared about did not belong to only one group. There were other vulnerable children, young people and communities whose realities also deserved attention, dignity and intentional support.

And that was where the idea of an umbrella organisation began.

MAAKOH remained what it was meant to be — our flagship intervention for the Northern boy child — while ISDE became the broader home through which we could build and support other initiatives in the future.

A close up of my life…. Literally (not complaining though)

Just me and AI 😂

Birthday treats because I am the best and I love me and miss me😂🥰

A beautiful burger 🍔

A beautiful girl 🤍

Another very beautiful girl🥰😘

Then a stressed person🙉🙌🏽 bye ✌🏽 by @dexarh

For months, MAAKOH has been an idea we kept returning to, asking ourselves what could happen if we stopped looking at vulnerable children only through the lens of what they lack, and started creating intentional pathways towards what they could become.

On 12 September 2026, we officially unveil The MAAKOH Project and its first pilot, MAAKOH Cohort 01.🎉

Ten children. One year. One model for a lifetime transformation 🙌🏽

Over the next year, we will walk alongside these children through mentorship, knowledge, health support, skills development and access to opportunities, while documenting the journey and learning what it takes to build a model that can eventually reach many more.

We are starting small, but we are thinking beyond ten.

This is where MAAKOH begins.
