This 1995 image was captured 8 years before Kerri and I made it official on October 11th, 2003. 36 magical years together, 23 nuptial anniversaries later, I can’t imagine what it’d have been like / what it would be like without you, sweet wife - you are everlastingly beautiful, thank you for so carefully holding my human heart in your hands. Love you, Husband by @dexterityletterpress

Dear Jon Cook,
Man, thank you. For all the shit this band gets - c’mon, there’s truly nothing better. Thank you for showing them to me, life changer / charger, for real.
BIG LOVE, MATE,

Flowting Clowds number 2 inching closer… since we’re here, I’d like to talk about the music.

After deciding on the songs for this 2nd 7” of ours, Sean aptly identified it as SONGS OF PROTEST AND HOPE. This version of FUTURE ECHOES is an instrumental, I think our guitar lines kinda mimic vocal parts, perhaps cheerful, uplifting, and hopeful vocal parts. STILL is a protest song - Sean and I have been playing this piece of music since before the pandemic… these words were written during the 2021 Derek Chauvin trial.

HEY YOU, DON’T MOVE AND DON’T STOP
BREATHING
YOU MUST STAY AWAKE
YOUR BROTHER IS ALIVE BUT HE'S NOT THE SAME
STILL WARM SO STILL
STILL WARM SO STILL

FOUND HIM ON THE WAY HOME
UNDER THE BLINKING LIGHT
ARMS OUT
DIDN’T KNOW HIS NAME
THEY SAID HE HAD A GUN
BUT THERE’S JUST NO WAY
HE’S A MOTHER’S SON
JUST ANOTHER ONE

Thank you LandLand Colportage. Thank you Smashed Plastic. Thank you. Be well.

I was reminded this morning that, 14 years ago around this time, a few hundred of us gathered at the Clifton Center in Louisville to celebrate the life and times of our most powerful Jason. There were many beautiful moments throughout the afternoon, a few that instantly bubble back on this day with pretty rich clarity… Greg composited a deeply comprehensive short film of some of Jason’s most joyful, humorous moments on stage, Christian presented an elegant, evocative piece of music of what I remember being layers of viola intertwined with tones and feedback loops that Jason himself had recorded somewhere along the way, Eve destroyed me with her voice and guitar, Kyle and I muscled thorough a song we’d put together on short notice... and, what kinda wrecked me the most and cut the deepest, was when dear friend Drew made mention of the Shipping News record, Save Everything - then turned it around a bit deeper into his eulogy, softly stating that sometimes, some things can not be saved.
All of you are extraordinary and lovely creatures… love and miss you.

The program for the memorial was not so much a schedule of events, it was a selection of two pieces of Jason’s writing that we collectively thought captured both his spirit and the tireless positive energy with which he fought the cancer that would eventually murder him. If you’d like a PDF copy of the program, please message me, would be happy to send it along. Be well. by @dexterityletterpress

Found these makeready tympan sheets, I always save them, I think they’re pretty. You are pretty. Have a beautiful day! Be well!

Summer always spins too fast - as much time as there is, there’s actually not nearly enough… none at all it too often seems..
