As long as there is exploitation, there cannot be equality

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
I’ve been overjoyed & overwhelmed by the love & support I’ve received. Hearing from elementary school classmates, friends from my pressplay stan twitter days, and people I’ve never met has filled me with so much joy.

I’ve used all the donated money to cover housing & essential bills for the next few months, which has relieved so much stress. My next obstacle (besides surgery & radiation) is keeping my Medi-Cal coverage while looking for a job. Having to choose between affordable healthcare & a living wage shows how sick our society is.

This sickness is called capitalism, a global system that forces most people to work for wages, overworked just to make corporate owners (capitalists) richer. They decide our hours, who gets hired and fired, how dangerous our jobs are, and how much profit they squeeze from us. We work 40+ hours and multiple jobs to make ends meet, while they buy private jets & islands and destroy our planet.

At first I felt ashamed to publicly ask for money. But that feeling, too, is a product of this society. Before capitalism imposed its hyper-individualism, tearing communities apart with wars and gentrification, it was normal for neighbors to help each other. Let’s bring back community care and resource-sharing.

You’ve shown me there is hope in humanity. We can change society, but we can’t rely solely on politicians, even good ones (the Zohran Mamdanis of today and tomorrow). Deep change needs ordinary people organizing into a mass movement! You don’t have to be an activist to organize. Talking to neighbors and coworkers about the billionaire-run system we’re trapped in (for now!), speaking up for one another - that is organizing. I know we can do it because I’ve FELT the empowerment of the 200+ people who helped me these past two weeks. You held me up when I was down, so we can extend this love to more people, for a better society.

We have everything to lose and a world to win. I’ll see you guys after my surgery.

all the love, Deya

so many people i could post, here are the FEW !!! (i was thinking of doing a video combining all this but my surgery prep has been so busy so!! if you’re not here, just know I am thinking about you and love y by @deya_rith

wow hello!

hard launching my brain tumor on instagram is a very odd thing. this is something i feel uncomfortable doing and it’s all the more reason to do it.

I have a brain tumor that is about 3.6cm and it’s very invasive. It’s pressing on my optic nerve and surrounding nerves that control the movement in my right eye, I am very blind and my vision is unlikely to come back. It is also in my cavernous sinus and pressing on my carotid artery (the artery that supplies blood to the brain). i’ll live with this tumor for the rest of my life because it’s on such important nerves. They won’t be able to fully resect it and I will have to undergo radiation. This rapid vision loss (that has even worsened in the last month) means I have to get surgery in 15 days. The recovery process will be long and hard.

the first thing that I thought of upon hearing this news was “Holy shit, i’m not going to be able to box!”

the second thing was “Omg, how am I going to work??”

and the third thing was “Hmmm.. does this mean i’ll have more time to do more meetings!?”

this has disrupted my whole life, philosophy, core, and everything around me. If you know me, you know i have a difficult time asking for help. I am calling upon my community to please help whether that’s donating or sharing this to anyone you know while I get through this difficult time.

please donate through the link in my bio or to me directly through venmo (@deyars), cashapp ($rsdoomsday), paypal (@deyarith), or zelle! (pls dm)

Also, if you have already donated, I LOVE YOU!

my fighter collage

I plan on studying fights, slowing down movements and perfecting my chambers, tabling, small ladder drills, southpaw, light shadow boxing, perfecting my idling, and so on. It’s time to slow down the mechanics. Increase the mobility and plyros, continue envisioning myself perfecting moves, and meditating on the mindset of WINNING. the only option: winning.

where do i even begin? i’ve been going through one of the most challenging periods in my life. i feel like i’ve been drowning, trying to come up for air, only to be pushed back down. I just spent the past couple of weeks trying to recover.. to process everything..with my favorite people in my favorite cities. Here is a letter of gratitude to the people i got to spend time with recently:

Thank you @nu_tru5t @jcrugzz for opening your home & providing your healing energy, magic, & wisdom to me n my family. I love you two so much.

My beautiful mom (slide 13) has given me everything in life…strength, resilience, humor, kindness, and my very cool siblings @mrdimpleboi @elbabyy5 that keep me grounded. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without her.

@moonworship_c and @vshiipp are two people who have shown me real friendship and to watch their growth over the years has been an honor. I cannot wait till they both move to new york. follow @thevinylcollectiv !!

@roxys___corner_ and @parkerad379 , they have continually pushed me to be better, held me when i cried, supported me when i was scared and hopeless. i am constantly fascinated by their brains and so grateful that i’ve been able to see them so frequently this year. I am also SO proud of Roxy, one of the strongest woman and i can’t wait to see the impact she makes this next year.

BASEBALL BRO!!! Shoutout to @dylanslavin and @ramnik13 who reminded me of my life long love for baseball, the ultimate community sport. and I MISS YOU forever A’s </3 but now I’m a Mets fan!?!? Anyways!!

@snizdorg @mac._.kena @jax_ofalltrades_ Yall are my fucking GOATS. The funniest, most sane people I know and I loved the magnetism we created and the adventures we took everyone on. my life would be dim without yall.

Lastly, big congratulations to @miamianrose @moistcoffeecake. I am so so so proud of you guys and cannot wait to learn, develop, and be inspired by yall. wish we got to spend more time together! but until next time.

I am so appreciative of everyone in my life. these are a few of the people that have made an impact on me but there’s many more thanks to give. I’ll never forget this trip.. now time to get back to work! by @deya_rith

it’s been a transformative period in my life and i couldn’t be more grateful for my community

been trying many new things, listening to music, dancing, making new friends, school, grieving, eating tons of amazing food, going on walks, and trying to shoot a short film!!!

i was inspired to film something after falling in love this past october and unlocking my creativity followed by the losses of this past year. a few things that have inspired me: Before Sunrise trilogy, dialogue in Her, Imaginal Disk by Magdalena Bay, and meeting so many wonderful people since Autumn.

The Dead Poets Society and Before Sunrise actor, Ethan Hawke once said, “The one who’s in love always wins. It doesn’t matter if you get your heart broken. you’re living. When you’re feeling you’re alive. The sun doesn’t care whether the grass appreciates its rays. It just keeps on shining”

this has been something I’ve been resonating w as i’ve stepped into devotion and surrender 🤎 attached is a song on my soundtrack by @deya_rith

This past year I decided to dedicate myself fully to ceramics. I stumbled upon a video on Youtube, “A Day Making Some of the World’s Most Difficult Soba Noodles” and I deeply resonated with the art and philosophy of Shuichi Kotani. I decided I was going to make him a bowl and gift it to him during my annual trip to New York. I had limited time to do it, having to practice throwing bigger and bigger while working on many other school projects. I wasn’t happy with the final result as it had slumped in the kiln. I hesitated even gifting it to him because of all the self criticism but doing so allowed me to let all of that go and appreciate my work.

Today, I sold my pieces for the very first time and it was another moment where I could be happy about what I created. To see people interact with my pieces, tell me their stories, inspire their own creativity, and admire my work brought me so much joy.

I can’t wait to be back in the studio !!! <3 by @deya_rith

2025 has been absolutely insane and we aren’t even finished with the first six months

Let’s see.. I got fired from my job, lost my bunny, made a lot of pottery, travelled, made so many amazing new friends, lost friends, started emdr (so hard, so rewarding), started working out again, made mistakes, grew, and loved!!!!!

Probably one of the most challenging and beautiful years I’ve had on this earth and I am filled with so much appreciation and joy by @deya_rith

friends + some inspo pics of dishes i’ve liked + some stuff ive been throwing at @studiooneartcenter !
I started ceramics because I like tactile activities and wanted to challenge myself. my first day, i was SO frustrated at the wheel because it’s not easy at all and I wasnt confident in myself + felt so defeated. I gave up and stuck to slab building, learning the clay, taking my time, and eventually reaching the wheel again. It has become a meditation and one of the things i’ve remained consistent with. being consistent in an activity has shown me my strengths, weaknesses, growth, beauty, and the importance of intention.

if you’ve ever wanted to do ceramics, you should! by @deya_rith
