🚨 DENIM & THE CULTURE: HOW MANY WEARS BEFORE THE WASH? 👖🧬

By DA FRONT PORCH

A conversation on the Joe Budden Podcast sparked a scientific question: How often should we really wash our jeans?

Hip-hop been serious about denim—from Girbauds and baggy 501s to designer and stacked jeans.

🧬 THE SCIENCE: Your body leaves sweat, oils, dead skin and microorganisms on clothing. But jeans usually don’t need washing after every wear.

The equation is simple:

WEARS + SWEAT + ODOR + ENVIRONMENT = WASH DAY.

Dinner for three hours? Probably good.

Sweating in the club until 2 AM? Experiment over. Wash ’em. 😂

Every wash also creates friction that slowly affects denim’s dye, fibers and fit. Washing inside-out in cold water and air-drying can help preserve them.

🔥 DA FRONT PORCH TAKE:
Fresh doesn’t always mean freshly washed—but if you can smell the jeans, stop negotiating. 😂

How many wears you giving yours?

🚨 UFC FIGHTER DUSTIN POIRIER CHALLENGES BLACK COP TO FIGHT — THEN USES RACIAL SLUR

By DA FRONT PORCH

Former UFC star Dustin Poirier’s Atlanta arrest footage is ugly — and we’re not making excuses for it.

During the confrontation at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Poirier was accused of being intoxicated and disruptive after being denied boarding. Body-camera footage shows the trained professional fighter repeatedly challenging a Black police officer to fight before using the N-word while addressing him.

Racism is racism. Period.

Being drunk isn’t an excuse. Being angry isn’t an excuse. Growing up around certain language isn’t an excuse.

But watch how the Black officers handled it.

They were dealing with an intoxicated professional fighter challenging them, disrespecting them and escalating the situation. Instead of matching that aggression, they maintained their composure and worked to de-escalate.

They could have chosen other routes.

They chose restraint.

Poirier later apologized for his language. But an apology doesn’t erase what happened.

🔥 DA FRONT PORCH TAKE:

We often hear about how civilians are supposed to remain calm around police. This time, give credit to the Black officers who remained calm themselves.

A professional fighter challenged them to fight while throwing racist language their way, and they still kept their professionalism.

No alcohol excuse. No upbringing excuse. No celebrity excuse.

You can respect Dustin Poirier’s UFC career while condemning his behavior that day.

Wrong is wrong. Racism is racism.

Make a flyer for this 🚨 THEY TESTIFIED AGAINST DURK — BUT THEY’RE STILL FACING LIFE

By DA FRONT PORCH

Lil Durk beat every charge in his federal murder-for-hire trial. But the government’s three cooperating witnesses — Kacey “OTF Jam” Hester, Keith “Flacka” Jones and Kavon “OTF Vonnie” Grant — still have a much different reality ahead.

All three pleaded guilty to crimes connected to the 2022 Los Angeles attack that killed Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson. Hester and Jones admitted being shooters, while Grant admitted helping coordinate logistics.

And here’s the part people are missing:

They were facing potential LIFE in federal prison. The original federal charges carried a statutory maximum of life imprisonment. Their guilty pleas don’t disappear because they cooperated or because Durk was acquitted.

Their gamble was cooperation.

Durk’s attorney Brian Steel called them “snitches, cooperators, rats” during closing arguments, arguing they implicated Durk because helping prosecutors could earn them lighter sentences.

Cooperation can absolutely help. Prosecutors may ask the judge to reduce a cooperator’s punishment based on substantial assistance. But a deal to cooperate isn’t the same thing as a guaranteed short sentence. Their actual sentences will be determined later.

🏚️ DA FRONT PORCH TAKE:
This might be the wildest part of the entire case. Three men admitted serious crimes, took the stand against Durk and hoped their testimony would help save them from potentially dying in federal prison.

Then the jury heard everything and said:

DURK — NOT GUILTY.

Now Durk beat the case they testified against him in, while their own guilty pleas remain.

The next courtroom numbers everybody should be watching aren’t Durk’s.

They’re the cooperators’ sentences.

🚨 LIL DURK BEATS THE FEDS — NOT GUILTY

By DA FRONT PORCH

After nearly two years behind bars, Lil Durk was found NOT GUILTY on all charges in his federal murder-for-hire trial connected to the 2022 Los Angeles shooting that killed Quando Rondo’s cousin, Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson.

The government came with cooperating witnesses from Durk’s own circle. Kavon “OTF Vonnie” Grant, Kacey “OTF Jam” Hester and Anthony “OTF Boonie Mo” Jones testified against him after reaching plea agreements.

Some people in hip-hop will simply call that snitching. But in federal court, the question was bigger: Could the jury trust what they were saying?

Durk’s defense team—including powerhouse attorneys Brian Steel and Drew Findling, along with Marissa Goldberg and Christy O’Connor—went directly after the credibility of the government’s witnesses. They argued prosecutors couldn’t prove Durk ordered the shooting or actually paid a bounty.

The defense also brought witnesses who contradicted portions of the cooperators’ testimony.

Then came the moment that mattered.

After hearing the government, the defense, the witnesses and the evidence, 12 jurors were not convinced beyond a reasonable doubt.

NOT GUILTY.

Durk became emotional as the verdicts were read. His wife, India Royale, and mother, LaShawnda Woodard, were in the courtroom. India comforted his mother as Durk wiped away tears.

🏚️ DA FRONT PORCH TAKE:
The streets can call somebody guilty. Social media can convict somebody overnight. Friends can take the stand. But inside that courtroom, allegations still had to become proof.

The jury heard it all—and didn’t buy the government’s case against Durk.

That doesn’t erase the life lost. But it does mean one thing legally:

LIL DURK — NOT GUILTY.

🚨 WHEN A TRADE FIGHT REACHES THE MINE, WORKING FAMILIES FEEL IT FIRST

In West Virginia coal country, the consequences of tariffs are no longer an abstract policy debate. When the United States places tariffs on another country, that country can respond with tariffs of its own—and those decisions can affect local jobs, health insurance and family finances. I raised that concern because I knew the impact could reach the people least able to absorb another setback.

After Trump imposed new tariffs on Chinese goods in 2025, China retaliated with a 15% tariff on American coal. That was serious for West Virginia because more than 6 million of the 11.6 million tons of U.S. coal China bought in 2024 came from WV.

Then came the layoffs.

Former coal worker Ricky Estes said: “I’m worried for the people that are laid off.” His concern was simple: at an older age, how do you suddenly start over? His other fear? “My biggest worry is insurance.”

United Mine Workers President Cecil Roberts warned: “There’s a storm brewing in America’s coalfields.”

By 2026, the West Virginia Coal Association said roughly 1,000 miners across about 10 mines had experienced furloughs amid severe economic headwinds affecting metallurgical coal.

DA FRONT PORCH TAKE:
I warned people because tariffs aren’t just Washington politics. When your state depends on selling coal overseas, a trade war can eventually reach the mine, the paycheck, the health insurance and the dinner table.

You don’t have to agree with me politically. But working people should always ask one question before supporting an economic policy:

How could this come back and hit us?

🇺🇸 25 YEARS LATER: THE MORNING MY PAGER WENT OFF

I was 19 years old.

The night before, I was hanging with my homeboy, watching Monday Night Football and enjoying life like any other 19-year-old. The next morning, I woke up and my pager went off.

Yeah, a pager. It was 2001.

The message came from the Memorial Regional Hospital Pharmacy Department in Hollywood, Florida, where I worked. The code on my pager was one we used for emergencies.

I called immediately.

“Come in.”

They were getting the Disaster Medical Assistance Team — DMAT — ready.

Meanwhile, the television was on.

We were looking at the screen confused. At first, it almost felt like we were watching a movie.

But something wasn’t right.

This is ABC. Why aren’t they showing regular daytime television?

Then reality started setting in.

This was real. America was under attack. It was September 11, 2001.

I went into Memorial Regional, and our pharmacy department went to work helping prepare the pharmaceutical supplies, medical packages and equipment needed for the emergency response.

At 19, I couldn’t fully comprehend the history happening around me. I just knew my pager had gone off, there was an emergency, and we had a job to do.

That’s something I’ll never forget.

Today, 25 years later, I think about that 19-year-old kid waking up after Monday Night Football and suddenly finding himself playing a small role in the response to one of the darkest days in American history.

I remember the confusion.
I remember that pager.
I remember the pharmacy.
I remember everybody getting to work.

And most importantly, I remember the people who never made it home.

September 11, 2001 — September 11, 2026.

25 years later, I still remember exactly where I was. 🇺🇸🕊️

🇺🇸 REMEMBERING 9/11 — 25 YEARS LATER | WASHINGTON, D.C.

Today, September 11, 2026, Washington, D.C. pauses to remember the lives lost 25 years ago on September 11, 2001.

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser is scheduled to join District leaders, first responders and members of the community for an official remembrance ceremony at DC Fire & EMS Engine 16 in downtown Washington.

🕚 11:00 AM
📍 Engine 16 — 1018 13th Street NW, Washington, DC

The ceremony honors the D.C.-area residents, students, teachers and first responders whose lives were forever connected to that tragic day.

For those of us who were alive on September 11, 2001, it’s hard to believe a quarter-century has passed. Today isn’t about politics. It’s about remembering the people who went to work, boarded airplanes, responded to emergencies or simply started a normal Tuesday morning and never came home.

25 years later, we remember. 🇺🇸🕊️

💰 IF TRUMP WANTED TO GIVE YOU $5K, HE WOULD’VE DONE IT ALREADY

President Donald Trump says every adult American could receive a $5,000 “Trump Dividend” — if Republicans retain control of the House and Senate in November. (Reuters)

That immediately raises a question:

If Trump wanted to give you $5K, wouldn’t he have done it already?

Republicans currently control Congress. Trump is already president. So why make the money dependent on what voters do in the next election?

The proposed checks would cost roughly $1.2 trillion, and Trump cannot simply order that money into everybody’s bank account. Congress controls federal spending and would have to approve the plan. Some Republicans are already questioning the proposal because of concerns about inflation, interest rates and the national debt. (Reuters)

And before we call it illegal, there’s an important distinction.

Promising voters an economic benefit during a campaign is not automatically an illegal bribe. American politicians from both parties have campaigned on tax cuts, stimulus payments, benefits and other policies that put money in voters’ pockets. Reuters notes that Supreme Court precedent supports the legality of comparable campaign promises. (Reuters)

🏚️ DA FRONT PORCH TAKE

We’re not telling anybody who to vote for.

We’re asking the question everybody should ask when politicians — Republican or Democrat — start talking money:

Why after the election?

If $5,000 for American adults is good policy, introduce the bill now.

Show us the legislation. Show us the funding. Show us the votes.

Because if you really wanted to give people $5K…

you would’ve done it already. 💯

🐍🎭 PRINCESS SLITHERED HER WAY TO THE MET!

By DA FRONT PORCH

Yeeeeee! 😂 New York has seen some wild auditions, but this one might have everybody beat.

Princess, a boa constrictor, successfully auditioned for a role in an opera at The Metropolitan Opera. Yes… a real snake got the callback. 😂

Imagine spending years studying theater, practicing your stage presence, learning your lines—and Princess slides into the audition like, “ssssso… where do I stand?” Next thing you know, she’s booked!

And apparently Princess didn’t need Auto-Tune, a manager, a publicist, or 47 people in the entourage. She just showed up, handled her business and slithered straight onto one of the biggest stages in performing arts.

The funniest part? Somewhere right now, an actor is probably staring at their rejection email thinking:

“I lost the role… to a SNAKE?!” 😭🐍

But there’s actually something cool about it. Theater has always used live animals, unusual performers and creative staging to bring stories to life. Princess just happens to be taking that tradition to another level.

🪑 DA FRONT PORCH TAKE:

Never underestimate your competition. They might not even have legs. 😂

Princess went from the reptile world to The Met. That’s not networking—that’s netssssworking. 🐍🎭

🌿🎤 HIP HOP, HISTORY & HORTICULTURE

YEEEEEE! 🌱 This Labor Day, Da Front Porch is switching up the scenery at the United States Botanic Garden in Washington, D.C.

And believe it or not, hip hop and horticulture have more in common than you might think.

Think about Tupac Shakur’s poetry collection, The Rose That Grew from Concrete. 🌹 Pac used a plant doing the unexpected—growing through concrete—as a metaphor for people surviving and becoming something beautiful despite difficult surroundings.

That’s horticulture with a hip-hop soul.

A seed needs the right environment, patience and care. Communities do too. Hip hop itself grew from places outsiders often overlooked, yet those neighborhoods produced MCs, DJs, dancers, poets, photographers, designers and entrepreneurs who changed global culture.

That’s why a trip to the Botanic Garden fits the culture. 🌻 You’re not just looking at flowers. You’re seeing how plants survive, adapt and grow—and maybe recognizing a little of ourselves in them.

📅 Labor Day — Sept. 7, 2026
📍 United States Botanic Garden | Washington, D.C.
🎟️ Free admission

From Tupac’s rose growing through concrete to thousands of plants growing in the heart of D.C., the message still hits:

🌹 Sometimes the strongest growth comes from the most unexpected places.

Explore. Learn. Grow.
