Feeling rather like gulkand…or perhaps a glass of rosé

I bought this beautiful eco-printed fabric from @econic_india last year at Vastrabharana, held at Chitrakala Parishath. It finally found its moment, so I had a jacket made from it.

At home, any occasion that involves dressing up quickly turns into a small creative project. Outfits are rarely just outfits; we end up discussing materials, trimmings, colours, and every little details to materialise our vision. This has been our way of doing things long before I studied design. We mix, match, source, sew and assemble pieces that can be heirlooms. There’s a quiet joy in wearing something you’ve made yourself. So, here’s a reminder—not everything we design has to be for a client, money, or a portfolio. Sometimes it’s simply an expression.

Yesterday was the birthday of a permanent resident of my heart—my sister.
I’m deeply grateful for all the love she has given me, even though she spent most of our childhood insisting she found me in a dumpster (over-used joke by every elder sibling👀)

Looking back, a lot of who I am today comes from the rigorous training she put me through: a strict curriculum of Barbie movies, Tinkerbell, Oswald, and every animated and crafty adventure we could find.

Naturally, I believe we will one day befriend dragons like Emmy and Max from Dragon Tales. I know we will.

She has also been a diva for most of her life (we will politely skip the oval-glasses era). Just look at tiny her! I’m not even half the diva she is. Forever my muse.

She’s hot-headed, brutally honest, and completely unfiltered, which is exactly why she’s the person I run to whenever I’m in crisis. Somehow, she keeps me grounded and gives me a reality check, which my whimsi brain needs.

Most of my personality traits are probably just side effects of growing up with her. Whenever I’m with her, I feel more like myself. I laugh louder, act sillier—she somehow brings out the monkey in me. Sometimes I wonder… am I Boots to her Dora?

Sometimes I wish I were the older sibling so I could spoil her the way she spoils me. But I guess that might happen soon because life has its own timing, and she’s about to enter a whole new chapter—a new title, a new role.

No matter what changes, she’ll always be my sister, my accidental mentor, and my third parent.
Happy 28th💗
