Here at the AEDP “In it together”conference, we are together to hold our book!!! Deep appreciation for how writing this book with @dianafosha was indeed a process of being in it together!

A shout out to the SF AEDP Essential Skills 2012 course participants who asked me “but what do you do when patients have different attachment styles?”

In 2016, came the paper, now here’s the book, a deepened and expanded response to that question, with the grids of each configuration shifting from styles to patterns of attachment- and their corresponding clinical markers and interventions…

Hi from the Networker in DC where i just finished my workshop on “Going Deeper with Patients”

This is a photo of me with Myra Hettleman, a participant in the workshop. Myra had the last word of the workshop.

She shared with a group that she was 84 years old and that she had just retired in August. However, that the AEDP work that she had seen made her want to undo her retirement.

It’s finally here! 🎉

I’m delighted to share that Tailoring Treatment to Attachment Patterns: Healing Trauma in Relationship, co-authored with @dianafosha is officially out in the world!

This book has been a work in progress over many years. My article on the topic was published in 2016, which has now grown into this book with more in depth research, some revisions of the grids and chapters devoted to elaborating on the formation and interventions of each attachment pattern. Diana and I are super excited to share this fruition of our work with you all.

We couldn’t have done this alone— and I want to say a huge thanks to bethany_saltman @norton.mentalhealth @aedpinstitute and of course my co-author @dianafosha ✨

Today Tuesday, March 11, 2025 marks a major milestone — the official launch of Tailoring Treatment to Attachment Patterns:healing Trauma in Relationship (Norton, 2025), the book I co-authored with the incredible @karenpandomars. This project is so close to my heart.

The book dives deep into healing trauma in relationships, exploring how attachment patterns shape our experiences — a core tenet of AEDP therapy. Writing it has been an deeping journey of reflection on the paradox of the tenaciousness of those early wired in attachment patterns side by side with their stunning plasticity and transformation in conditions of where the individual feels safe and known.
