Who made the call that set Su’s murder in motion?

There were men connected to the airport putting Su’s name out there to some very dangerous people. Were they trying to have her threatened, or did they want her gone? We may never know exactly what they intended. But by the accounts I’ve heard of the crime, Su was supposed to be threatened, and then things went sideways.

Those airport men weren’t there that night. Most weren’t even working there anymore. So when Su unexpectedly left to pick up food, who tipped off the men who rolled up on her? Did that information go first to the airport men, or directly to the men who confronted her?

Think about it: if the plan was to threaten Su, sending men she knew from the airport wouldn’t make sense. She would recognize them. The account connected to the 2018 grand jury also points away from those airport men being the ones who confronted her.

That leaves the question I keep coming back to:

Who knew Su was going out for food, and who made the call?

If you passed along that information, you may not have known she would be killed. Is fear of being charged for a call made 34 years ago keeping you quiet? Massachusetts has a statute of limitations for many crimes, though no one can promise how it applies without knowing exactly what happened. Is it shame?

Silence won’t make that go away.

Come forward. Tell investigators what you know. This is moving, and you have a chance to get ahead of it and do the right thing.

We’re breaking it all down this week on Wicked Honest True Crime.

Tick Tock.

For 34 years, Su Taraskiewicz’s family has waited for answers.

Su was only 27 when she was murdered after leaving her job at Logan Airport in September 1992. Before her death, she endured documented harassment at work. Her killer has never been brought to justice.

Her mother, Marlene, is now 84. She has never stopped hoping. Neither will we.

The investigation remains active, and there is still a $250,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

Someone knows something. After 34 years, it is time to speak.

34 years is too long to wait for answers.

Susan “Su” Taraskiewicz was 27 years old when she was murdered in September 1992. She was a daughter, a sister, a friend, and the first woman to become a baggage supervisor for Northwest Airlines at Logan Airport.

Her murder remains unsolved.

For the past several years, I’ve been digging into Su’s story—speaking with investigators, retired law enforcement, witnesses, coworkers and people who were there. I’ve gone through court records, grand jury material, old newspaper archives and documents that have been sitting untouched for decades.

Su’s story will be the subject of my next book, Girl on the Billboard.

But this has become about much more than a book.

Su’s mother, Marlene, is now 84 years old. She has spent 34 years waiting to know who killed her daughter and why. She deserves answers. Su deserves justice.

On Saturday, September 12 at noon, we will gather at Constitution Beach in East Boston for a vigil honoring Su’s life and reminding everyone that this case is not forgotten.

There is still a $250,000 reward for information leading to the resolution of Su’s murder.

Someone knows something.

After 34 years, it is time.

Please share. Please come. Please help us keep Su’s name and her story alive.
