🇲🇽✨ DAY 3 OF OUR MEXICO CATRINA MISSION 🇲🇽➡️🌉

From Oakland to Mexico City, this journey has been about so much more than bringing a monumental work of art home. It has been about honoring the culture, stories, and roots that connect us across borders. ❤️

Our delegation traveled to Mexico to witness #LaCatrinadeFruitvale come to life, handcrafted by Mexican artisans whose hands are creating every detail with intention, pride, and tradition. 🌼💀 @artsumex

Her journey to Fruitvale reflects the journey familiar to so many of our families and ancestors; leaving home, crossing borders, but carrying our culture with us every step of the way.✨🫶🏼

As we closed our Mexico Mission, we gathered with Mexican media to share the story behind La Catrina and what her arrival will mean for Oakland.🌳

Soon, she will make that same journey north. And when she arrives in the heart of Fruitvale, she will stand with her arms open, a symbol of welcome, belonging, resilience, and a community proudly saying:
Aquí estamos y no nos vamos. ❤️ ¡Viva La Catrina de Fruitvale!👏🏼

🇲🇽✨ DAY 2 OF OUR MEXICO MISSION 🇲🇽➡️🌉

Day 2 of our Mexico Mission was UNFORGETTABLE — we finally got to see #LaCatrinaDeOakland in person for the very first time. 🥹💀❤️

Seeing her come to life was truly breathtaking. The vibrancy, the detail, the scale, the artistry… she is even more magnificent in person. This isn’t just a sculpture — she’s a symbol of culture, pride, resilience, and the powerful connection between Mexico and Oakland.

And of course… we had to make it official. 😎🏀⚽️
We baptized our Oakland Catrina with some official Oakland gear from the @oakland.ballers and @oaklandroots @oaklandsoulsc , welcoming her into the Oakland family before she makes her journey across the border. Porque Oakland es Oakland. 💚✨

Our Oakland delegation proudly gathered in front of Catrina for one unforgettable group photo — capturing a historic moment before this monumental work of art makes her way from Mexico City to Oakland, California.

La Catrina is coming home. 🇲🇽➡️🌉

And Oakland… she’s coming for you. 💀🔥
