The land remembers, even when we forget.

Dickson Mbi’s TELLUS is a story of drought, ancestry and a young person learning to listen again to the Earth beneath their feet.

Rooted in Cameroonian mythology and brought to life by eight dancers, it comes to Sadler’s Wells this October.

What do we owe the Earth that gives us everything?

In TELLUS, Dickson Mbi turns a bedtime story for his son into an epic journey through drought, mythology and our relationship with the natural world.

Eight dancers bring this deeply personal story to life this Autumn.

The Earth remembers what we forget.

At the heart of TELLUS is a young person who has lost their connection to the Earth.

Thrust into a village suffering from drought, they are guided towards a truth that feels both ancient and urgent: the land cannot endlessly give if we forget how to care for it.

Drawing on myth, movement and Dickson Mbi’s Cameroonian heritage, TELLUS is a story about what we inherit, what we owe to the world around us and what we choose to protect.

It begins with a bedtime story. Then the Earth begins to speak. 🌍

In TELLUS, Olivier Award-winning artist Dickson Mbi draws on his Cameroonian heritage to tell an epic story of a young person thrown into a land devastated by drought.

Guided by a Goddess, he begins to understand what has been lost between humanity and the Earth, and what it might take to find our way back.

Eight dancers, an immersive original score and a world shaped by movement, myth and memory bring this powerful new work to life.
