The God of Wine 巴克斯
Acrylic on Canvas
120 x 100
“Soon to be imbued with a vibrant confusion of pastel tones, given my inability to perceive colours correctly”

After a slight hiatus, and unnecessarily prolonged diploma under my belt, am I finally qualified to teach the ways of painting indulgently bizarre people with hats?

DM for an apprenticeship 🍦

~ Dionysus, or as the Greeks once called him, Bacchus, was the son of Zeus and the God of Wine. His wine, music, and ecstatic dance freed his followers from self-conscious fear and care, subverting the oppressive restraints of the powerful. ~

Wyndham Social gladly presents 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗮 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀, a solo exhibition by British-Spanish artist @diggitydouglas .

An ongoing experiment and exploration of the subconscious influence on creativity, Diggity Douglas's latest series, 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗮 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀, showcases his imaginative use of visions and symbols while paying homage to his Spanish Surrealistic roots. This collection delves into intense subject matters such as substance abuse and the struggles of a painter with acute colour blindness. The deconstructed figures serve as a gateway into the artist's introspection, captivating viewers and inspiring their own self-reflection.

‘Third Eye Farmer’
《 Tercer Ojo Granjero 》 3/3
Oil & Acrylic on Canvas
2024

The third Uncle in the triptych series depicts a man with so many eyes, his vision transcends this plane of reality and gifts him Clairvoyance.

El tercer tío de la serie de trípticos representa a un hombre con tantos ojos que su visión trasciende este plano de la realidad y le otorga clarividencia.

《 The all-seeing Uncle has six eyes. His perception of reality proliferates beyond the unknown 》

Muted. Despaired, but All-Seeing

‘Farmer’s Offerings’
《 Las Ofrendas del Agricultor 》 2/3
Oil on Canvas
2024

The second Uncle in the triptych series portrays a perturbed, senior grazier being offered flaccid dandelions, cropped from a dispirited harvest.

A continuation of muted colours, thanks to my protanopic inability to distinguish tones of red and green, gives this piece a gloomy reminder of the fragility of nature.

《 The senior Uncle has only two eyes. His dry aged expressions perceive this world for what it is. A brutal and inescapable reality of survival 》
