Congratulations to Digital Futures Medal Winner, Meicen Zhou!

Meicen Zhou is an experience designer and creative technologist. She works across installation, wearable tech, games and interactive media, combining physical computing, sensor-based systems, generative AI and real-time graphics. Zhou’s practice centres on turning passive encounters into embodied ones, building systems where people don't just observe technology, but move, play and feel through it.

The OCAD University Medals are awarded annually to one student from each undergraduate program in recognition of their creativity, innovation, mastery of technique and high academic achievement.

Works by the 18 medal recipients are on view as part of GradEx 111, Toronto’s largest free art and design exhibition, featuring work by more than 800 emerging artists, designers and digital media creators.

Digital Futures OPEN Show is where we show the work that is happening RIGHT NOW. The collection of work presented is intended to represent a survey of current ideas, concepts, themes, theories, tools, techniques, and trends being explored by the Digital Futures community.

OPEN comes from the fact that this call is open to our whole community. The show will include works from current Digital Futures undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty, and alumni. For anyone who has asked the question “What IS Digital Futures anyway?” - this project showcase will help to provide some answers.

This year the OPEN Show will take place on December 11, 5-8pm at 205 Richmond Street West as well as online via the website https://df.show/.

We very much look forward to seeing you all at this year’s exhibition!

Sincerely,
OPEN Show 2025 Faculty Organizers

Dear Digital Futures Community,

All pieces must be exhibition ready, including clean and safe cable routing, robust for a large audience, and you are expected to be present with your work during the entirety of the show.

Your submission can be a piece from your personal projects, artistic endeavors, classwork, design escapades, or any other activity that can help articulate Digital Futures, created in the last year (2025). You will be responsible for booking, checking out, and returning the equipment for your project from AV Services (with the exception of alumni who will receive support from show organizers).

All submissions must be received by Midnight EST November 28th in full, in order to be included in the exhibition. All submissions must include documentation for df.show.

Click link shared in links above or via QR code to submit work.

To learn more about the work that was included in previous shows, check out the df.show website.

We very much look forward to working with you all on this year’s exhibition!

Sincerely,
