What if the Torah was hand detection technology? And our touches could be felt by it? What if Tefillin meant that our bodies were a remote control to the divine? What if ancestors could literally hear us when we pray out to them through phones, up against candles, or in dark webs? Come resist AI generated eulogies with me.... Erupt in some weird shit. Touch some things. Let's find our bodies, BEAUTIFUL rentals from the divine, and trace down our joys and get unhaunted...

Another clip from ‘Men With Codes’, the 3rd audiovisual track from my latest @cachenrelease project, ‘Machine Yearning’. Developed for my MFA thesis in @ocadugradstudies @digitalfuturesgrad program.

The visuals for this second half of the track are composed entirely of copyright-free footage of human crowds, captured at protests, concerts, sports events, etc. that I sourced from YouTube and trained a custom model on using the GAN software ‘Autolume’ (by @metacreationlab), which I also used to create the visuals.

The concept was to explore themes of individuality vs collectivism and the way humans try to gauge morality and judge individuals who deviate from behavioral norms.

I have an exciting update about the audiovisual album that I can share more about soon! Until then, check out the full project on YouTube (link in the @cachenrelease bio) 🤖

Just over a year since I released my latest @cachenrelease audiovisual project ‘Machine Yearning’ which I developed for my masters thesis at @ocadugradstudies @digitalfuturesgrad! This is an excerpt from track 3, titled ‘Men With Codes’.

The idea was to show the unnamed technological entity (whose POV we see the entire album through) trying to differentiate between humans as individuals vs collectives, and struggling to understand how we construct our sense of morality and identity. I was inspired by how much our judgement is rooted on the amount an individual deviates from the norm (that main ringing melody was my attempt at making a musical prison alarm).

The first half of the song features two individual faces that are being compared by the entity. The second half features large swathes of visual noise that’s actually composed of Creative Commons footage of crowds at protests, concerts, sporting events etc. that I used to create a custom dataset which I trained the GAN software ‘Autolume’ (by @metacreationlab) on.

I have exciting news regarding this thesis project coming soon, in the meantime check out the full album on YouTube (link in the @cachenrelease bio)! 🤖

So glad to have shown Constellation Range at the OCAD U fundraising gala this year. A wonderful opportunity to see the piece out in the world again and among so many other great installations. Big thanks to @joshua_pothen for the install and strike support! Excited to see where Constellation Range heads next.

Alt-F: Practicing Alternative Futures We Can Feel

An introduction to a relational approach to engaging alternative futures as sites of inquiry and practice that shape emerging cultural and business contexts.

Drawing on research on Black imagination, sonic histories of cassette tapes and recorded Black performance practices, students will be invited to consider how their work might operate within our understanding of futures and how we might turn imagined possibilities into lived realities.

Monday, March 30, 2026

3:00 PM - Doors open
3:30 - 5:00 PM - Digital Futures Talk

Christopher Wilson is a passionate cultural futurist and artist-researcher with a wealth of experience in the arts & culture and non-profit sectors. His practice is guided by curiosity and shaped by ancestral wisdom and radical possibilities, where he is committed to futures in which Black folks are not only seen but listened to. With a Master’s of Design in Strategic Foresight and Innovation, and is currently pursuing his PhD in Cultural Studies at Queen’s University, his research focuses on the alter-archives of Black sound recordings from 1963 to 2000. This recent work reflects a dedication to exploring how we envision and use our collective futures to build connected, more meaningful communities better equipped to navigate the obstacles and possibilities of the future. Let us see ourselves in the future as an act of knowing, of being, and of becoming, to reimagine the past and present
as pathways to inspire future possibilities for Black folks.
