UVU students continue their engaged learning experience in Greece by documenting culturally significant locations. Utilizing LiDAR technology, a digital twin is being created for the church of Agios Achilios which was built over 250 years ago! Likely the reason this church still stands over 2 centuries later can be contributed to the fact that this location was also the most renowned for traditional stone masonry, which influenced art and architecture throughout all of Greece. Post 1: Follow Utah Valley University students, from the Digital Media and Architecture
programs, during a one-week field experience in Greece, engaged in hands-on learning using
both state-of-the-art media and capture technologies as well as tried-and-true methods of
architectural craft; creating impactful opportunities for students to go beyond the norm.
For the first time ever, UVU students are tasked with fully documenting a Greek Orthodox
Church, built in 1742, in order to preserve cultural heritage for generations to come - tag along

A team of UVU students and faculty traveled to Tiwanaku, Bolivia, to preserve a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Bolivia. One professor even coaxed a few of the local tribal elders to pilot one of the drones used in the preservation project! Visit the link in our bio to learn more.

A day in the life of @uvuarch and @digitalmediauvu students working in Tiwanaku, Bolivia. 🇧🇴

The team traveled to Tiwanaku with the goal of cultural, historical, and archaeological preservation in mind. Tiwanaku is an important pre-Columbian site that also predates the Inca, and at its peak was the cultural and political center of the Andes. It is of utmost importance to effectively catalog, document, and preserve such a site, both for the people of Bolivia and our world heritage. Over the next two semesters, students will continue to work with the @ncptt.nps on architectural and digital documentation.
