Well… another chapter complete and a grander one to write 👨🏼‍🎓

@univofalabama has been my home for the past 3 years, as I pursued my degree in business management while simultaneously managing this page and YouTube. A place that is hard to justifiably describe and much easier experienced through home game weekends, walks to class down University Blvd, and front yard parties. The magic at Bama has brought me the greatest time of my life and memories and people that I will treasure the rest of my life. Even though I have been constantly on the move, given any break between classes, it has always been Tuscaloosa that I would return to. Whether it were a weekend trip to the Gulf shores, back home to NJ for the summer, or even an extended spring break to the Indo-Pacific, I always had my classes, friends, and the Strip waiting on me. Balancing life at school and the outdoors somehow balanced into a comfortable yin and yang that has made life pretty damn sweet the past couple years. Beyond the classroom lessons lectured and tested from my professors, I learned invaluable life lessons about balance, discipline, relationships, and success, that will hopefully make me the man I aspire to be. But sometimes closing a door just opens a window, and I’m stoked to pursue the future with a new, vehement passion. Life is now in creative mode, and I can’t wait to continue (and more consistently) share this journey 🤙 Roll tide. Philippians 4:13 🙏 taken in The University of Alabama by @dilllfish

The trip dreams are made of.

14 days ago I landed here in Indo. Flying all over, island to island, inching to my final destination. An 80 mile boat ride to a remote village tucked into the Papuan jungle. The first white person to ever step foot in this village, I had the privilege to meet the chief and was given his blessing for my 10 day stay on neighboring uninhabited islands. From there I solo camped on a pristine coral atoll, explored virtually untouched waters, climbed cliff faces, trekked through virgin island jungle. I lost track of each unique species that I tangled with, as I made thousands of casts off the beach, reef ledges, and underwater mountain peaks. My bucket list dissolved into the tropical waters as the sun burned overhead. From big GT exploding on poppers at my feet, bluefin trevally frenzying the second my plug hit the surface, as well as the myriad of other vibrant coral trout species, and even some much rarer land based monsters— every single day was Christmas morning. Adventuring each day; I pushed, tested, and broke my limits— and sometimes they broke me. Swimming hundreds of yards between islands with a full backpack dedicated on sinking me to the bottom was a thrill some days, getting blasted by crashing Indian Ocean waves while standing on ice-slick boulders was the excitement others. The beauty of this place was truly jaw dropping. Snorkeling my backyard aquarium, watching a golden Māori perch bolt up from 15 meters deep, each sunset and sunrise, and when no torrential thunderstorm— a pristine night sky. At the end of my trip I even spent some time living in the village. Fully immersed in a culture so far beyond my realm, granted me a new perspective on life. After days of surviving on snacks on my desolate island, the local tastes of nasi with ikan and a new flavor each meal blessed my palette. I ran out of adjectives to describe this place, and nearly ran out of storage to capture it. This will be a special one to share once I get back behind my Macbook. It’s been the trip of a lifetime traveling the past month, but as I reflect across the tarmac, 10,000 miles from home, I’m stoked to return to the US and get back to work 🤙. taken in Indonesia by @dilllfish

At the end of the summer, I had the extraordinary privilege to join @fieldandstream on an across country trip to the legendary Clear Lake, California. An ancient volcanic lake, and the oldest natural lake in California. The notoriously titled, “Bass Fishing Capital of the West” absolutely lived up to the hype. A fish I typically overlook as a primarily saltwater and exotic location angler, the largemouth bass renewed its spot in my heart as a nostalgic, purely fun fish to target. We spent several days out on Clear Lake where I casted off our Airbnb dock, a paddleboard, and aboard the boat with bass legend @thereel_j.pearlguideservice . For several days we experienced the highs and lows of bass fishing but the mean of each day was many many fish, as we learned the lake’s nuance. This trip was full of BIG bass, witnessing my first ever 10lber at the hands of @seeyadude as well as breaking my own pb at 6lbs 5oz (several times). While filming fishing was the focus, I have never had so much straight up fun in-front of a camera. An amazing trip to reminisce on/and now the production is complete. Even more stoked on how the final product turned out up NOW on YouTube 📺
