Somewhere along the way, many girls were taught to feel embarrassed about something that is completely natural.

Not powerful.
Not meaningful.
Just… something to hide.

And over time, that message becomes internal.

What if the problem was never the body
but the silence, the taboo, and the lack of understanding around it?

This is a conversation we don’t have enough.
And maybe it’s time we do. 🌸

My dear American friends , please do watch this film as it comes out to you first! 🇺🇸🎬

It means so much to me and to my dear friends and loved ones who poured their hearts into it. 💔

This story was made with blood, sweat, and tears and though it’s “fictional,” it draws from countless real stories of displacement, courage, and hope that the Director and I have witnessed firsthand over the years.

I’m so proud of everyone who made I Was a Stranger so special. And what makes it even more meaningful is that, for the first time in over a decade, my team and I are working to rebuild the Syrian health system through Medical Aid Films helping real people behind stories like these. ❤️

As many of you know, I’ve spent years working with refugees and families who have lost everything. This one truly hits close to home.
