Back after six months, Bombay!

‘Unshared Childhoods’ inhabits an increasingly volatile, insular, unsafe, and lonely world.

Sitting vigil and standing up alongside strangers and loved ones alike is the need of the hour in India right now. We hope this performance offers respite and resistance, and hope.

Spurred on by teenage party games, Marquez’s short stories, romanticised tales of messages in glass bottles afloat at sea, and a fascination for compound adjectives beginning with ‘un’, this immersive performance is a collective effort at imagination and un-Othering disguised as a performance, located in the Dead Letter Offices of our minds.

MORE ABOUT THE SHOW:

‘Unshared Childhoods’ is an intimate dramatic experiment in empathy in which audience members sit around a patchwork quilt to bear witness to real unsent letters from around the world, dive into our individual and collective pasts, and share food in what feels like a family reunion.

This immersive performance is hosted in living rooms – the real site of the drama in our lives – and includes live music and movement.

It has been called “revolutionary”, “unmissable”, and “path breaking”.

Stories entered my life when I was very young.
My earliest memories with stories was when I was a little girl and when dad would tell stories to my sister and me. All improvised. With voice modulation and sound effects. Vivid descriptions and a whole sensorial experience!
And then some of my first storybooks that I got as a gift from a family friend when I was hospitalised at the age of 5. My steady companions for a very long time!

Who knew a love like that would then one day emerge as a physical desire to write and tell stories of my own.
I am so grateful to everyone who has helped bring to life my first book - ‘About the Friend in My Heart’ - @thematchboxgirl , @blind_glass , @unmana_bombay , @soshivaniofher , @red_pandaindia , @westland_books .

Because of this book, I get to experience my dream of being a children’s book author and be at literature festivals shoulder to shoulder with writers and illustrators that I’ve admired for years!

I spent the last weekend at @neevacademy ‘s @neevliteraturefestival - observing, listening and connecting with my own inner voice.
An incredible festival dedicated entirely to the universe of children’s literature.

Little Dipna is so proud and is back with a heart filled with dreams and ideas ready to explode!
And a deep knowing that we need to do better for *all* the children of the world.

I feel all of life is a preparation for who I am becoming and funnily enough (yet beautifully), I feel I’m just getting started ✨ by @dipnaa

Spent Teacher’s Day this year remembering the very core of why I do what I do and returning to my question about love through everything I do! ♥️

Spent three wonderful days -
- in a love circle of people who work with children and educators because we are crazy enough to believe that love is the answer.
- facilitating ‘Pause, Body’ workshops for caregivers as a reminder that our bodies are homes that hold and not just instruments of productivity.
- attending workshops on rest, pedagogy of love, lullabies, art and more!
- truly experiencing a buddy system like no other thanks to @vidiksha_forever 🙌
- appreciating love and textiles with @jaiminibhawna
- sharing ‘The Magical Garden’ along with my partner in crime @rohit_dazzler to an incredible audience (we’ve lost count of the number of shows) but feels like this story needs to reach many many more 🧚‍♀️
- finding sneaky little moments to fall in love with this city and humans again.
- bumping into faces I love! (@amaymarkhapuram )
- a song finding its way into my life twice in the last two months - ‘whatever grows will grow, whatever dies will die. I am planting seeds, nothing more’

Thank you for this incredible celebration of love @museumofsolutions , @teachforindia and @centreforurbancommons that has fuelled me with a good dose of hope!
