I’m incredibly happy to share that MAHIMA has been awarded BEST FILM at the AKKA Cinegannada Film Festival 2026! 🎬❤️

Mahima is my first feature film as a director, and the journey of making a Kannada feature film entirely in Canada has been filled with challenges, learning, persistence, and the support of so many wonderful people.

Good lines are not the problem. If a character says exactly what they feel, the scene has nothing left to discover.

Subtext is what they mean underneath the words. Direct that, not the emotion, and one simple line can carry an entire scene.

At the TIFF and TIFF Market, the thing I keep coming back to isn't a screening. It's the meaningful conversations and meetings

Grateful for the time with:
Kiron Cherkori Sir ( Son of Sri Ramoji Rao) of the Ramoji Group a studio - the biggest film studio and our Sunny bhai from IFFSA Toronto

Sayani Gupta, whose work has been quietly shaping what Indian independent cinema can be.

My friend Paul Hopkins and American Actor Tom Malloy, the two actors who make the business side of this look a lot less lonely.

Mr. Mahaveer Singhvi, Consul General of India in Toronto, on the growing space for Indian storytelling in Canada.
And the NFDC team and full circle for me, having worked with them at TIFF years ago.

Finally happy to be part of IFFSA Toronto and the South Asian Screen Council of Canada for the opportunity to be part of TIFF Market.

Films get made in rooms like these long before a camera turns on.

Big budget. Great actors. Stunning visuals. And the film still leaves you empty.

Some of the most expensive films ever made are forgotten today. Meanwhile, Parasite, Memento, and Prisoners stay with us. Not because of scale. Because of the writing.

When I made Advaitha, we went through many revisions before we called it final. My team kept pushing the script to be better. And it showed on screen.

You can shoot a weak script perfectly. But you cannot make the audience feel it.

What makes this moment even more meaningful is that MAHIMA is a Kannada feature film made entirely in Canada, brought to life by an incredible cast and crew who believed in the film and stayed with us through this journey.

From an idea on paper to seeing the film reach a festival screen, this has been a long road filled with challenges, learning, persistence, and unforgettable moments.
