POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

This is the first post I’ve ever been scared to publish, and a version of this has been sitting in my notes app for a while, but it doesn’t scare me hitting post now, thanks to the encouragement of some amazing people.
I never planned to work in country music media; it happened super organically from a genuine love of the music at a time in my life when I felt stuck and my mental health was at the lowest point it’s ever been, coupled with some chance encounters with certain people that, looking back now, feel like fate. They do say what’s truly meant for you will find you, so who knows?
My story started with a love of @alanaspringsteen debut album “Twenty Something” - Alana was releasing that as I was travelling around Australia by myself in 2023. On a pure country music fan level, I just loved it - still do - but the day after I landed home, nipping into a work environment that was already not great triggered a series of events that would hugely impact my mental and physical health, and then the music that had been the soundtrack to one of the best trips ever became the inspiration to change my situation entirely. It’s wild how you can hear a song 1000 times, but the lyrics can hit so different when you’re really going through something.
That’s exactly why @southbound615 exists; and if any of this resonates with you, always feel free to reach out to chat if you want to - Nikki by @dirtroadspodcast

We are SO EXCITED to finally launch The Dirt Road Diaries Podcast.
We want this podcast to be a place to celebrate not only the music and the artists that bring us all together as fans, but also the country music community itself, which is just so special, and we want y’all to be part of it as we build this together.

Episode 1 is a conversation with the incredible @firsttimeflyers
All of us at Southbound genuinely love these guys and their music and it was a privilege to chat to them about their wonderful debut #1 album, Bound to Break as well as drive by hecklers, that legendary Saturday Night Front Porch headlining set at @thelongroadfest and hoodies with a little pocket inside the pocket 🤣
Thank you @tim_prottey_jones @poppyfardell @vicki_manser @thejakemorrell & @timsmith100 👏

The Dirt Road Diaries Podcast is brought to you by @southbound615 in association with @rodeosbbq and @ukcountryhats Episode 1 is available on all platforms now via the link in our bio.

In an evening and a set list full of special moments, this was one of many highlights from @firsttimeflyers who once again demonstrated - seemingly - effortlessly why they’re the future of UK country music: beautiful harmonies, songwriting that matters, and so much unseen hard work behind all the talent that it doesn’t get celebrated enough.

The guys played back-to-back sold out nights at the outstanding @fortyfiveuk in York and the combination of their talent and that wonderfully intimate venue will always feel incredibly special. Three quarters of Team Southbound were present last night, along with some friends and we all had THE BEST time so shout out to First Time Flyers as well as Ian, Rebecca and their whole crew at FortyFive Vinyl Cafe (especially Hendrix) IYKYK 🙌👏👏 taken in FortyFive Vinyl Café by @dirtroadspodcast

Ben & Nikki continue their album track-by-track chat discussing Alana Springsteen’s new album “I Hope This Helps” picking back up with track 5 “Love To See It” - a summer vibe you don’t wanna miss: the song is an upbeat summer banger all about relishing in the satisfaction of watching an ex come crawling back trying to get back what they threw away. If you can relate to that, check out this clip of Alana and I chatting about it and stick around to see a clip of her playing it for one of the first times live at Barstool in Nashville on the last day of CMA Fest.

Alana’s incredible sophomore album “I Hope This Helps” is out now and our chat all about it is available on the latest episode of The Dirt Road Diaries Podcast, which is a country music podcast connecting the UK to Nashville and is available everywhere you get your podcasts.
