FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

THE DISCO KING MARIO’S LEGACY AWARDS CEREMONY OFFICIALLY RESCHEDULED FOR 2027

BRONX, NEW YORK — AUGUST 19, 2026

Zulu Queen Anita, the Original Founder and Creator of the Disco King Mario Memorials, Events, and Tributes since 1994, has announced the official postponement of The Disco King Mario’s Legacy Awards Ceremony.

The prestigious event was originally scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Lehman College.

The ceremony is now being rescheduled for the 2027 calendar year. Organizers are currently projecting the new timeline to fall between July and August 2027.

Under the advisement of professional advisors regarding corporate sponsorships and logistical factors, Zulu Queen Anita made the executive decision to defer the ceremony.

This strategic extension ensures the production receives the administrative timeline, prestige, and preparation required to execute the event at a world-class level.

STATEMENT FROM ZULU QUEEN ANITA

"If we truly want the history of Hip-Hop to survive, we cannot wait until our pioneers are gone to celebrate them. We need to show up for one another and help create platforms where our stories can be told while we are still here to tell them. Let’s give our pioneers their flowers while they are still here to receive them. I am disappointed by this delay, but I am determined. We will return in 2027 bigger, better, stronger, and more organized."

KEY OPERATIONAL FACTORS

* Honoree Availability: Several foundational Hip-Hop pioneers and industry honorees are currently touring or managing professional conflicts, preventing them from attending to accept their awards in person.

* Sponsorship Development: While immediate capital timelines did not align for August 2026, new corporate partners have initiated discussions to back the expanded 2027 event cycle.

* Production Scaling: The extended timeline allows leadership to expand its administrative, promotional, and public relations staff to support the growing scope of the ceremony.
