We had a blast spending a few days in neighboring Washington County as Hagerstown hosted this year’s Main Street Maryland Conference.

Seeing two of our own Main Street Managers give a presentation about teaming up with neighboring communities was a great reminder that although every Main Street is unique, there is so much value in local partnerships.

September 28 - October 2, 2026 has officially been proclaimed Business Appreciation Week in Frederick County!

For 26 years, FCOED has organized this large business retention project. This week, teams of ambassadors will be visiting more than 70 businesses throughout Frederick County. This is a chance for us to check in with local companies, find out how business is going, share resources, and of course say Thank You!

This year B.A.W. falls on the same week as Economic Development Week in Maryland! Hosted by our partners at Maryland Economic Development Association (MEDA), this week highlights the impact of economic development on Maryland's business climate, job growth and retention, tax base, and overall quality of life. From the city level, to county, to state, we are grateful for our economic development partners and the shared goal to help Maryland thrive.

Make sure to follow along on Facebook this week to see where we visit and learn more about the diverse business community that calls Frederick County home.

It’s almost that time... FREDERICK COUNTY BUSINESS APPRECIATION WEEK!

While our teams of ambassadors are out visiting local businesses all week long, YOU will have the chance to win! This Monday through Friday, we will post questions to our Facebook page at 9:00am and 1:00pm. Leave your answer in a comment and you will be entered into a drawing. That gives you 10 chances to win!

Friday afternoon we will randomly select a name to take home a gorgeous basket from The Frederick Basket Company full of local goodies. Good Luck and Happy Business Appreciation Week!

This week we teamed up with The City of Frederick to represent Frederick County at the BioHealth Capital Region Forum. Our region continues to grow as one of the nation’s leading biohealth clusters, driven by research, capital access and federal partnerships.

Frederick’s biotech industry was also represented at the annual event, with speakers from companies including AstraZeneca, Theradaptive and Phycin.

What does it take to pull off the perfect event? So many moving pieces need to come together at once, and when it happens, it's a lot like the stars aligning.✨

We recently toured Frederick-based event company @syzygyevents and got a behind-the-scenes look at how these larger-than-life events go from an idea to reality. The owners also introduced us to their latest business in the event industry, @allyellowrentals .

Put your party pants on and learn more about Syzygy and Yellow in our latest blog: (link in bio)

@fredcoexec Jessica Fitzwater and members of the Frederick County Office of Economic Development team recently visited the AstraZeneca Frederick campus.

During the visit we toured the facility, met with company leadership, and learned more about AstraZeneca’s exciting expansion plans. We are grateful for the company’s continued investment in Frederick County and its commitment to creating jobs, advancing innovation, and strengthening our growing life sciences community. We look forward to continuing our partnership and supporting AstraZeneca’s growth in our community.

A new Frederick manufacturing center will produce equipment for the Federal Aviation Administration.

@rohdeandschwarz cut the ribbon this week on their Frederick location, where equipment for the country's new modernized air-traffic control system will be manufactured. The Frederick facility represents a $40 million investment by Rohde & Schwarz USA and is expected to add around 150 new jobs.
