At Hiddn, the suite is prepared around the way the day is ending, with a team who notice the small things you didn’t realise you needed.

By dusk, there is very little left to do but sit down, put the day aside and spend time with whoever is beside you.

The deck catches the last of the light.

A drink in hand, stone underfoot, and the reserve held in view by architecture that knows when to stay out of the way. Deep overhangs temper the sun, while timber and glass keep the landscape close.

There is space here to stop looking ahead. To sit, notice, talk, or say very little at all.

The cliff edge shifts your sense of proportion.

Far below, the river cuts through the valley while the rock face holds steady above it. Stay there for a while and conversation thins out. Less need to fill the space. More time to notice what is already there.

In Nomathamsanqa, Mantis Hiddn in Addo supports the Addo Football Youth Academy, where local children have a place to play, learn and spend their afternoons with people invested in what comes next.

Support extends beyond the football field, with equipment, meals and learning tools helping AFYA continue its work with children in the Greater Addo community.

Hiddn belongs to this part of the Eastern Cape. Caring for it means looking beyond the reserve, to the young people growing up around it.

At Mantis Hiddn in Addo, nature isn’t scenery. It sets the pace.

The reserve covers 800 hectares beside Addo Elephant National Park, with previously disturbed land being rehabilitated and wildlife corridors reopened.

So the idea of slowing down here has a practical side to it. Walk the land. Listen. Leave space for wildlife to move.
