Got glasses. My newfound ability to correctly identify birds at the bird feeder outside my window feels sacred.
I ALSO had my wheelchair seating assessment recently!!! I kinda never thought I’d see the day but we got it done and are just waiting to see if insurance will cover it (here’s hoping it does because I need a wheelchair that keeps my spine straight and isn’t on the verge of falling apart)

Content Warning: mentions of death and severe illness

It’s my second fusion-versary today!!!!! 2 years ago, I got the craniocervical fusion surgery that, in conjunction with a bunch of other treatments, brought me back to life. I don’t have the words to describe the experience of M.E., CCI, tethered cord, and jugular vein compression to a layman. I am deeply grateful for my comrades in sickness, and I want recovery for you all.

When people hear me say community care saves lives, I want them to know I am being so fucking literal. I still have every letter I was sent while I was dying. My mom would read me messages from emails and the gofundme. I am alive because of every donation of time, money, labor, and care.

The book quote at the very end is from Eidolon by E. S. Yu . It’s a sci-fi book about a cybernetically-enhanced assassin with amnesia of his life prior to receiving his enhancements and becoming an assassin. It deals heavily with themes of autonomy and the medical industrial complex. It’s a story of going through something unthinkable and not surviving it, in some ways, and being a different person than you used to be. But healing, and living, and re-defining the world for yourself. It makes me feel very seen.

Went to the park near my house for the first time! (by myself, in wheelchair). There were many crows and very pretty clouds. 10/10 would go and hang out with the crows there again. (Photo from yesterday) changed my sheets and pillowcases, made my bed, swept , and mopped and finally my room is less of a sensory nightmare lol Photo of a made bed with a large collection of assorted plushies on one side. Yes, I still need support, because my healing time is longer than “usual” due to existing disabilities. Get that little anti-Black & classist inner demon’s voice out of your head (you know, the ones that says, “they need money AGAIN??”)

In fact, if more white folks signed up for monthly reparations, I wouldn’t have to make these asks at all. It’s truly that simple!

I need to stay off this app for my survival right now. Please DO NOT ABANDON DISABLED FOLKS - me not posting does NOT mean I’m doing well or receiving the support I need.

I’ve lost several monthly supporters (Herb Bank labor tier & monthly reparations) since taking time off to heal. Truly alarming that some people can just dump me when I’m in such a vulnerable position. (Sometimes people cancel bc their income has changed, and that’s understandable/not what I’m referencing)

I’m still working daily on the farm’s fundraiser (not supposed to be), still running the Herb Bank (my bad, shouldn’t have done this) and am still working the full time job that is surviving as a Black disabled trans person in a country that effectively functions as one giant Hellmouth.
