Wir sind in der Jing Bar, die zum gleichnamigen #michelinstar Restaurant gehört. Leider schließt das Team vom #thepeninsula nun das Lokal. Es ist nicht effizient genug.
Was mich überraschte: Nach dem aktuellsten MICHELIN Guide Beijing 2026 gibt es hier 32 Restaurants mit mindestens einem Michelin-Stern:

* ⭐ 24 Restaurants mit 1 Stern
* ⭐⭐ 6 Restaurants mit 2 Sternen
* ⭐⭐⭐ 2 Restaurants mit 3 Sternen

Also insgesamt 32 Sternerestaurants und 44 Michelin-Sterne. Das denkt man doch bei uns in Europa nicht, dass es in Peking so viele gute #michelinstarrestaurants gibt.

Die beiden Drei-Sterne-Restaurants sind übrigen:

* Chao Shang Chao (Chaoyang)
* Xin Rong Ji (Xinyuan South Road)

Falls Ihr mal da seid… 😀

We are at Jing Bar, part of the #michelinstar restaurant of the same name. Unfortunately, the team at The Peninsula Peking is now closing the venue; it isn’t efficient enough.
What surprised me: According to the latest MICHELIN Guide Beijing 2026, there are 32 restaurants with at least one Michelin star:

* ⭐ 24 restaurants with 1 star
* ⭐⭐ 6 restaurants with 2 stars
* ⭐⭐⭐ 2 restaurants with 3 stars

That makes a total of 32 starred restaurants and 44 Michelin stars. Back in Europe, you wouldn’t necessarily expect Beijing to have so many excellent michelinstar restaurants.

The two three-star restaurants are:

* Chao Shang Chao (Chaoyang)
* Xin Rong Ji (Xinyuan South Road)

As it is so often the case in China, I was surprised once again. We wanted to have Peking duck in Beijing 😁. It makes sense, right? But this isn't just a meal; it’s a culinary ritual.

✨ The skin is glazed and air-dried for hours before roasting—which is why it becomes so paper-thin and crispy.

🔪 The duck is artfully carved right at the table. The goal is to get the most perfect pieces of crispy skin and meat possible.

🥢 Traditionally, it’s eaten wrapped in paper-thin pancakes with cucumber, scallions, and a sweetish sauce.

And the crazy part: the duck is served in several courses. After the prime slices, a bowl arrived with crispy duck trimmings, wings, and small bones to be eaten by hand. The remaining bones are then used to make a soup.

And it tasted amazing: almost no fat and a deep umami flavor. Super crispy. Wow, was that delicious 😋!

🇩🇪 Wie so oft in China war ich wieder mal überrascht. Wir wollten in Peking eine Pekingente essen 😁. Bietet sich an, oder? Aber das ist nicht einfach ein Essen. Das ist ein kulinarisches Ritual.

✨ Die Haut wird vor dem Rösten glasiert und stundenlang luftgetrocknet – deshalb wird sie so hauchdünn und knusprig.

🔪 Die Ente wird direkt am Tisch kunstvoll aufgeschnitten. Dabei geht es vor allem darum, möglichst perfekte Stücke aus knuspriger Haut und Fleisch zu bekommen.

🥢 Gegessen wird sie traditionell in hauchdünnen Pfannkuchen mit Gurke, Frühlingszwiebeln und süßlicher Sauce.

Und das Verrückte: Die Ente wird in mehreren Gängen serviert. Nach den Filetstücken kam eine Schüssel mit knusprigem Entenklein, Flügel und kleinen Knochen zum mit der Hand essen. Die anderen Knochen wurden noch für eine Suppe verwendet.

Und geschmeckt hat die Ente genial: Fast ohne Fett und mit einem tiefen Umami Geschmack. Super knusprig. Boah, war das lecker 😋!

Eigentlich ist es schwer,Tickets für die Verbotene Stadt zu kommen. Überall im Internet liest man, dass die Tickets lange vorher online gekauft werden müssen. Aber wir haben es spontan probiert und als internationaler Gast hat man wohl eine Chance auf ein gewisses Kontingent.
Glück gehabt, wir durften rein! 😀

Die verbotene Stadt ist die größte Palastanlage der Welt und war uber 500 Jahre lang das politische Zentrum Chinas.
Insgesamt 24 Kaiser der Ming- und Qing-Dynastien regierten von hier aus das chinesische Reich. Gewöhnlichen Menschen war das Betreten des Areals strengstens verboten.

Ich bin überwältigt von der Größe und der besonderen Atmosphäre. Man kann nicht sagen, dass es überladen prunkvoll wäre. Eher stilvoll schön und für uns exotisch mit den goldenen Dächern und großen hellen Höfen.

Insgesamt ist die Verbotene Stadt auf 720.000 qm Fläche gebaut und hat knapp 9000 Räume. Schon damals war man hier schnell beim Bauen: in 14 Jahren war man fertig (1406-1420).

It’s actually difficult to get tickets for the Forbidden City. You read everywhere online that tickets have to be bought well in advance. But we gave it a spontaneous try, and it turns out international visitors have a chance at accessing a specific quota of tickets.
We got lucky—we were allowed in! 😀

The Forbidden City is the largest palace complex in the world and served as China’s political center for over 500 years.
A total of 24 emperors from the Ming and Qing dynasties ruled the Chinese empire from here. Ordinary people were strictly forbidden from entering the grounds.

I am overwhelmed by the sheer scale and the unique atmosphere. You couldn’t call it gaudily ostentatious; rather, it is stylishly beautiful—and, to us, exotic—with its golden roofs and vast, light-filled courtyards.

We are at the restaurant Huang Ting in #beijing .

🇩🇪 Das Huang Ting interpretiert die traditionellen Hofhäuser des Pekinger Adels sowie die dort einst genossenen Speisen neu. Antiquitäten aus der Qing-Dynastie und Seidenelemente in Elfenbein und Blau erinnern an diese Zeit.
Die Speisekarte spannt einen Bogen von kantonesischen Klassikern bis hin zu regionalen chinesischen Spezialitäten – von Dim Sum über Pekingente bis hin zu saisonalen Gerichten –, die mit Präzision und Zurückhaltung zubereitet werden.
Der Service ist aufmerksam und souverän und wird von einem Team geleistet, das mit der Kunst der kantonesischen Gastronomie bestens vertraut ist.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿Huang Ting reinterprets the traditional courtyard houses of Beijing’s nobility and the meals that would have been enjoyed there. Qing dynasty antiques and silk accents in ivory and blue are an elegant celebration of heritage.
The menu moves between Cantonese classics and regional Chinese specialties, from dim sum to Peking duck and seasonal dishes, all executed with precision and restraint. Service is attentive and assured, guided by a team deeply versed in the craft of Cantonese dining.

Arrival at #thepeninsulabeijing . I’m getting introduced to my suite. The #beijingsuite is the second largest at #thepeninsula .

Crazy #LasVegas: To ensure birds don’t disturb guests at the pool and pool bars, a Harris’s hawk acts as a bird deterrent and is constantly carried around the pool area.
This way, other birds recognize the hotel grounds as its territory and stay away.

Crazy #lasvegas : Damit am Pool und in den Poolbars keine Vögel die Gäste stören, dient der Wüstenbussars Harris als Vogelschreck und wird stetig um den Pool getragen.
So erkennen die anderen Vögel den Hotelbereich als sein Revier und bleiben fern.

Im Moment sind wir schon in Hongkong und Macao, schaut mal in die Story!

At the world famous #donsprime in Las Vegas: I met the chef, was invited to the kitchen and tested the signature dishes.

My favorite course: Lobster Agnolotti. It is a luxurious dish featuring small, pillow-like pockets of fresh handmade pasta stuffed with delicate lobster meat and creamy ricotta. It is typically served in a bright, velvety sauce like a lemon-cream, vodka, or lobster-tomato broth.

I’m so thrilled and euphoric about this relatively new hotel in Las Vegas, the #fountainebleaulasvegas. Here I find everything I look for in other #luxuryhotels : absolute VIP service, a modern ambiance with state-of-the-art technology (the Sphere is accessible via a Tesla tunnel), a beach club feeling in the pool areas (with live birds of prey to ward off any minor intruders 😁), celebrities everywhere, ready to socialize (Tom Brady had dinner next to us), and the unwavering commitment of the entire staff to making every guest feel completely at ease.

I’ll show you more in the next few posts.

🇩🇪 Ich bin so begeistert und euphorisch von diesem relativ neuen Hotel in Las Vegas, dem Fountainebleau Las Vegas. Hier finde ich all das, was ich in anderen Luxushotels suche - einen absoluten VIP - Service, modernes Ambiente mit neuester technische Ausstattung (die Sphere ist durch einen Tesla - Tunnel erreichbar), Beachclub - Feeling in den Poolbereichen (mit lebenden Raubvögeln zur Abwehr kleinerer Störer 😁), Prominente überall in Stimmung für‘s Socialising (Tom Brady hat mit vier ebenso coolen Freunden neben uns zu Abend gegessen) und dem ausgeprägtem Willen des gesamten Personals, dass man sich als Gast so richtig wohlfühlen soll.

Ich darf in der VIP Lounge des angesagten Fontainebleau Las Vegas einchecken. Ganz privat bei einem Glas Champagner. Dann geht es ab in meine kleine Suite in der 38. Etage mit Blick auf die weltberühmten #sphere . Natürlich haben wir auch ein Event in der Sphere besucht😁.
