the truth is…

i’ve been struggling with a lot of the things going on in my life. struggling to be good at my new job, to find balance in all my responsibilities, my school work, my passions - including my art, asking for help, indulging in the good and bad, not knowing where my life will be in 6 months, and maintaining my mental and physical health.

my emotions often set me back bc i am self aware of where i’m lacking or behind. there’s a lot of guilt and shame that set in and it’s been challenging to keep up. since i’m not always the best at expressing myself openly, i thought i might take this opportunity to be brave and honest with all of you.

i’m taking some new steps to help me find the parts of myself that feel like they are missing or the parts of me that need more work and growth. as i do so i’m still working on orders and projects just at a slower pace. good news is, i’m almost caught up! grant me some grace and patience bc i promise it will be worth the wait.

yesterday i called one of best friends and asked her to take some pictures of me bc i felt cute and happy. we had so much fun laughing together, thank you for always having fun with me emily. i love you dearly my friend.

i hope you guys enjoy my goofy smile and even more so the beautiful ‘you are not alone’ shirt (collab) i did with @tiffani.skorcz and @kaligirlart this message was our stance on domestic violence but i think the message is important in so many ways.

Dear sister,
I just want you to know how much I love you. You are such an extraordinary woman and I feel so proud to call you my sister. I’m feeling blessed to have these two on my side for this project. 💜

Tiffani has such an incredible passion for self love and one’s journey to growth. Every time we talk she teaches me something, this may also be bc we are very different hehe, but in the best way. Working with her brings me balance and gratitude. I’m lucky to have a friend who wants to help others the way I do. So thank you Tiff, for reconnecting with me and being my partner for these beautiful projects. I can’t thank you enough. For those of you who don’t know this yet, @bdy_tskorcz is now a personal growth coach. How amazing is that?! 💜

Kali has both a unique style and strong messages in her artwork. I was very excited when I met her bc I had been wanting a new artist friend and it was her art that introduced us. I had a feeling we would work together :). The time I’ve spent with Kali has been both kind and fun, she has a sharp sense of humor lol. Thank you for creating the perfect piece for this project. It’s true, it was right in front of us. We knew there was abuse, but we didn’t understand the complexity and severity of how scared my mom was in her relationship. I’m still struggling with how to open up about my experiences. All I do know is that I want to help and encourage other people to educate themselves, take the steps to get their loved ones out of bad situations, and ultimately give someone the hope and courage to reach out. We all deserve to feel safe and have happy healthy lives/relationships. This project is more than just a fundraiser, it’s part of my self expression, what I’ve been through with my family. 💜 #dvam #domesticviolence #domesticviolenceawareness #youarenotalone by @divadye.llc

💜YOU ARE NOT ALONE💜
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. @bdy_tskorcz @kaligirlart and myself have worked together to bring you the next addition to Clothing w/ a Cause. We have chosen to advocate for DV because of our personal experiences and from helping others over the years. The truth is DV isn’t talked about enough and sometimes we may not realize that we are in a dangerous situation or maybe we are too afraid to ask for help. This project is a promise to do our part in helping others.

GOALS:
💜Raise $500 to donate to @ndvhofficial through t-shirt sales and donations (designed and created by all 3 of us 🥰)
💜Provide info and resources
💜Speak out about personal experiences
💜Create a safe community

Everyone has been a FAN of these this summer! 🤣☀️ ANYWAYS. I’ve been a little absent recently. It’s a mixture of creating a lot of pieces for events, indulging in summer fun, work/school, and trying to be more connected to the real world. I love being present bc I feel the most like myself when I’m making art and spending time with loved ones. When I find myself online too much I can feel the effects it has on my mental health and my perception of life. Today and everyday my goals are to live in gratitude and appreciate every moment of happiness. At the very least I hope my goofy pun made you smile. 😌 I ALMOST FORGOT! Why do I call tie dye the art of mistakes? In 2014 I met Ruth, the lady who taught me not only how to dye but to love the entire process. For a long time I wanted to be perfect when it came to my artistic passions. One day Ruth was teaching me a technique and I made a mistake (or so I thought). She stopped me and said, “This is the art of mistakes, it’s ok.” Since that moment I have surrendered to all the mistakes I’ve made. Not just in my craft but my life in general. I challenge myself by asking myself, “how do I create something new from this piece of work or situation?” It’s helped me find new perspective, the importance of problem solving, and so much more. I’m thankful for everything I have learned on this journey.
