Find me in Philly with @diecast.philly, Ohio at @ohionorthern and at a pilgrimage site for Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, Carmen with @wilmingtonconcertopera and Opera Fresca in Wilmington, DE and Newtown Square, PA, in recital in greater Detroit, caroling with @oldetownecarolers in Pittsburgh and Cleveland area, and presenting in my hometown of Fremont, Ohio. Hear my compositions in Philly, Baltimore, Boston, Vermont, Michigan, and Ohio!

You are all going to have to indulge me, because for the next month and a half to two months, my life is going to be mostly "Carmen."

Ever since I was a cigarette smoking cigarette girl at Toledo Opera in high school, I've wanted to play this role. It's a role that I almost got to play ten years ago, but then the production was canceled. Although the opera is constantly produced, I haven't had the chance to sing it until now. It never left my top ten dream role list. It's so exciting to be able to finally get to work on it and savor the music and the character.

This is also semi-staged and off-book, so the vast majority of my time is being spent going over and over and over French. Don't worry, though. If you come to see us, you can enjoy the English translation via Jennifer Grackin Steinberg 's supertitles magic.

Excited to announce my solo tenor debut 🤩 This Sunday, October 11th, I will be performing a gratifying program in honor of Indigenous People’s Day. I was graciously invited by Douglas Buchanan and St. David’s episcopal church in Baltimore, MD, to perform the program. Come see the raccoon aria from Jerod Tate’s opera “Loksi’ Shaali’”, a captivating song written by my dear friend Kirsten telling the story of reminiscing on the changing gaze of the land indigenous to the Objibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi peoples and what is modern day Chicago. Music by Andrew Balfour, and more! And Happy Indigenous People’s to all 👏🏼🫶🏼 by @divavoce

Up next! BALTIMORE area people, please join Dylan Aguayo and Douglas Buchanan as they perform the Maryland and tenor premiere of my composition "Witch of November in the White City" as part of the Recital and Evensong Commemorating Indigenous Peoples Day at St. David's Church on October 11th.

Commissioned by Chicago Fringe Opera for their "Chicago Currents: Celebrating Chicago's Waterways," this work has been performed by CFO, at Windham Philharmonic in Brattleboro, Vermont, and at the Good Medicine Indigenous Music Festival in Houston. Truly more of an operatic style scena than a song, it celebrates the importance of water throughout the Chicago area in many different forms, as well as the respect of water by Chicago area tribes. I wrote the text as well as the music, and sang the premiere and subsequent performances. It is scored for voice, piano, and violin.

I have been trying to find an old family recipe my Dad had for frozen margaritas. It's pretty special, and at some point, when I was contributing to the publication Sexi Soprano (which later became Modern Singer), I submitted the recipe with photos. Jason had it on his old hard drive, which got corrupted at some point. Long story, short, we can't find it. I checked socials, emails, and finally, I checked Google. I have Googled myself many times before, but I had not added the words "Sexi Soprano" to "Kunkle Margarita" before.

Needless to say, it did not yield anything exciting, beyond a recipe for serrano margaritas. However, the AI result, which is forced upon Google users, was fascinating and wrong. While I am thrilled it did not tell me that Kirsten C. Kunkle is NOT a Sexi (sexy?) Soprano, I have also never covered that role, nor actually heard the opera mentioned. So, be careful, because AI may just tell you completely wrong information.

I'm going to give up on recipe searching and get back to practicing.
