The class was broken up into groups and their task was to take the combos we learned, and make them unique in their own way.
💡 The idea behind this exercise is that after all the instruction, I want my dancers to still be more of ”them” and less of “me”

I fear our tamahine ate this one up 🤣👏🏽👏🏽 here is their final product!

To my Lēʻia,
I wish you could see yourself in my eyes, you have always been the sweetest little girl🩷, which is how my heart still seeʻs you; although your now in your teen era currently and part comedian as I heard from your Hula sisters🤭.. From a young age you would always talk about your dreams and goals & it was always so big and fabulous, especially the yearning to be dancing on that stage. You have always been fearless, yet always available to help those around you. Since you could walk, dancing has always brought you ultimate joy, you have this natural capability, yet your work ethic is impeccable. Seeing how you go thru Kapu with such grace, holding yourself accountable to each requirement without falter, making sure that every choice you made was what was expected especially when no one is looking. Seeing you create and prep your hau and lā’ī with such finesse, seeing your hands work to put your pāʻū together was magical! To hear you willingly practice your chants and each dance during the process without complaint and on your own time is great discipline. I hope you know you made your kupuna proud. I wish you see your self in the eyes of those who love you unconditionally, and how you are blossoming before us all. I hope you can see yourself as the lord see’s you, how he made you in his image. But mostly I hope you know that you belonged on the stage, I hope that being on stage wasn’t because we all love seeing you there but because YOU wanted to be there. I hope you know how much I love you and that i am so proud of who you are, but mostly i hope you are proud of yourself One day I will share the visions that other people have seen of you in the future, i will share it with you and the world, but until then aloha wau ia ‘oe nui my girl, I hope you know how much you are loved & truly how Divine you are🤍 ….and when you get the choice to sit it out or dance—I hope you dance!
