Written by @diya404 Akka:

The ancient Kavuthwams, hidden for many years while the Companies (Dutch, French, British) began trying to suppress all Indian culture over a couple hundred years, are now seen in different versions across stages globally… well they were first debuted on stage by mom, trained meticulously directed by Kuppiah Thatha along with some other rare numbers he taught her. Thatha’s Bhairavi Thaana varnam (Viriboni) took one year to properly learn in the pristine ancient style is only still performed by mom (and I). And Mahalingam Saar worked with mom on small details and subtle expressions to train and refine mom’s approach to the famed Padari Varugudu. All of this is found in print in this old Times of India article from early 1960s. by @diya404
